Is Peter England bad news? By Geniusofdespair

It appears, according to Miami New Times, that Peter England is bad news. I previously endorsed his opponent Shelly Stanczyk, on October 31st, for Mayor of Palmetto Bay.

Looks like a last minute campaign attack. England was never charged and only this guy seems to be making the accusation. Innocent until proven guilty???

Was the comment so bad? My apologies if it offended you. Just thought it was a comment for healthy deliberation with a bit if spice that characterizes this blog.

Yes your comment annoyed me . I don't wish to be annoyed on my blog . If a candidate I endorse loses it means nothing. I usually endorse underdogs. I don't endorse on increasing my numbers. I endorse who I consider to be the best candidate . Bev Gerald has Greer baggage but Fiorre voted on Lennar contracts while working with Lennar when he was in Kendall. He is much worse for this reason. If people put him in office it is their loss not mine.

"this guy" you speak of is my friend Ty.

Someone actually talking about what England stands for and who he stands for is what is needed. This whole election has ended up being about who has money and connections and who doesn't. CRAs (Community Redevelopment Agencys) have the potential of bringing big pork and big$ to all of England's EDC and business owner supporters along US 1. This plan would force 8% of city revenue right into their greedy hands. Of course Camillus settled to cover it up because their funds come from donations. Read the court case docs on these charges and see what little old Palmetto Bay has in store for it.

Where is England employed now? Check prior County Commission CDMP meetings to see what projects he spoke in favor of during public remarks. This guy has a "For Sale" sign around his neck. Palmetto Bay voters beware!

So you ARE just a shill for the people you endorse, since you won't post even a moderate comment in opposition.

All the while allowing Shelley and her minions to post slander.

No big deal.

If she wins, and you pay attention over the next few years, the first time you call her "Vile Shelley Stanczyk" remember this.

First your comments weren't moderate. Second we have someone here with accusations against him -- not just by anyone but by someone I know personally. I do not like campaign funding violations, they make me ill plain and simple. That is what the blog was about.

Dorrin Roller was never convicted of a crime but many of us realize he was scum. The only thing not being accused of a crime in this town means is that the State Attorney's Office is over burdened with bigger cases or that there just isn't the political will to make indictments happen all the time.
Peter England is not all shiny and bright. He is campaigning in the Catholic Churches actively, much like some Tea Party around the country did.
He has never done anything in Palmetto Bay nor in District 8, yet he is running against Shelley Stanczyk now like he did against Katy Sorenson eight years ago.
Why now?
I still haven't heard much about his platform except that he would like to add a CRA district to Palmetto Bay, as if there is slum and blight in Palmetto Bay.
Look at the failure or Miami's CRA and South Miami's CRA.
Oh, and let's not forget about his not so subtle e-mail about the "three girls" running for office.
England strikes me as a very old school back door deal maker. He's not really what Palmetto Bay needs nor wants.

Truly Blue, you forgot about the Homestead CRA. And, I well remember Peter running against Katy. Now we're stuck with RTL Lynda, who did fully utilize the Church's in her campaign. She claimed she would "do G-d's work at the Commission" and these people bought it, shovel fed.

CRA's are nothing but pork! Very few of them work, but line certain pockets very nicely.

And, I would like to know where there are "blighted" areas in Palmetto Bay. What a joke. If the voter's buy this crap, they'll pay for it, dearly!

Innocent until proven guilty is for a court of law, not the court of public opinion.

No one is ever found "innocent" in a court.

A "not guilty" verdict only means the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt (in criminal cases), and "by a preponderance of the evidence" (>50%) in civil cases.

A scumbag is a scumbag and it's OK to say so before, after, and during a trial.

Why do people throw stones and hide their hands say your names or else you are no better that the talking heads on tv with their one-sided communication mechanism.
I want to question each candidate themselves and let them deny the charges or defend them out right.

Shelly has been in the Palmetto Bay community for as long as I have had kids. I am sorry to say that Peter was around, but only at the chamber parties - never as a community activist or supporter. Peter only cared about whatever chamber would stroke his ego.

As a councilman in St. Pete, Peter advocated for the stadium and he also was on record in the papers as wanting to raise the gas tax, which he admitted no one else wanted to do. He also thought it was a good idea to do a end run around a law that was created by the vote of the public on the issue of politician financial disclosures (he wanted that change to occur before he ran for re-election). He thought that it would be okay to take a short cut rather than put it back to the voters for a re-vote. Peter eventually voted with the board to let it go back to the public. All this info is in the newspaper records over in St. Pete.

Shelly has been here and working for the community way back before Palmetto Bay incorporated. She was at every public meeting standing up with us when we headed to the county commission.

You are right Greer was not a good thing for us. But, Bev was chopped up by Greer and her henchman as well as the rest of us were.

Don't go with Fiore who came from Kendall to Palmetto Bay when the crud got too hot with the ethics issues on the zoning board (community council) he sat on. Remember all the corruption articles from the Kendall CC? That was Patrick's board and he was right there in it.

I have been there and seen it. Go with Shelly and Bev, at least they have a positive history with PB.
