What are they finally doing? Investigating themselves! They are focused on uncovering a whistle-blower in their ranks instead of looking at allegations against their Director. Ethics can't nail anyone ever so don't expect an outcome from this investigation...except the wrath of an angry wife.

Time for a new director. How about the person who leaked this and dug through the trash for the notes?
Retribution for the investigation in to the former aide of Alavarez ?
Seems like public employees are literally doing nothing but screwing around. Take for example the sexting scandals in Homestead among several employees and now this. The do nothing label fits this guy to a T.
I thought of the Homestead texting scandal the minute I saw the notes on the letterhead - how stupid! I was hoping, though, it was a lunch with Martinez who scated on the ethics issue in regard to his new house and the contractors - damn - just another sex scandal!
But, on a serious note, I can't believe they're investigating the whistle blower. If I were that person, get a lawyer and the County may have to get out their check book. There is federal law protecting that worker. Hiding behind the 1957 Charter won't protect you against the Fed's!
As to Robert Meyers - he's been about as effective as Fernandez (keep geting me campaign contributions and I won't investigate you) Rundle.
Awe come on it's only a Friday Lunch date which includes wine and COCKtails and that comment about wear something nice, the flourescent condoms and the edible panties its no big deal.
I'm sure his wife understood perfectly that the whole thing was BLOWN out of proportion.
Of course the whistleblowers should be investigated! How dare anyone EXPOSE the fact that government workers really don't do much except drink wine and hit on their secretaries, that's of course when they aren't busy twiddling their thumbs, watching the customer service phone ring, or staring intently at the ceiling.
While I do not think much of the performance of his department, I wa sort of surprised by the Alvarez-like arrogance shown by Meyers in the video. IF there was ever any question about it, he needs to go now, just look at how his staff are speaking out publicly, like a bunch of cats scattering.
His record confirms he is neutered, keep your condoms.
DOES ANYONE DO ANYTHING AT THE ETHICS DEPARTMENT?
This so called "Ethics Comission" has degenerated into nothing more than a tool for attacking political opponents of the corrupt county political establishment. Robert Meyers and Queen Katherine Fernandez Rundel are thick as thieves.
This is about more than lunch. When a county supervisor exercises the power to promote and award generous compensation adjustments, and also enjoys socializing with that subordinate, it rises to an abuse of public office. Don't use my tax dollars to curry personal favors.
Annual Salaries 2009-10
Robert Meyers - $230,747
Michael Murawski - $146,671
Every one knows his assistant is Rodzandra Sanchez. It seems odd that a complaint was made against her in a public document, but Meyers is still attempting to hide her identity. Who else gets that treatment?
Isn't the Ethics Director supposed to be PROTECTING whistle blowers? How ironic. Shame on him and the Ethics Commission for engaging in this Capt. Queeg-like inquisition.
Lake Worth had a similar situation in which millions were being squandered by the utility director and city manager. One day some honest employees discovered a serious breach of security at the power plant. Someone had accessed a programming module that could have cascaded a large outage. So rather than plug the security breach, the city manager and the utility director go on a witch hunt threatening anyone who spoke out. Finally 3 brave men with a hundred years experience in utility power delivery blew the whistle and we instantly fired. Case pending. This is what dishonest people do... they won't deal with ethics until they get rid of any honest people hanging around since dishonest people can't trust honest people.
NEWS FLASH! The County ethics board is holding its monthly meeting on January 4, 2010 at 10 am at 19 West Flagler St.; Suite 820. The Board is going to discuss Bob Meyers fate. Judge Gelber stated in the last Ethics meeting that they cannot "white wash" this matter of Meyers misconduct or it will 'kick you in the face.' It is apparent the board may vote to possibly remove the E.D. (Ethics Director) by a vote of 5 -3 ag. keeping Meyers as the E.D.
