Classic Carl Hiaasen on Rick Scott. By geniusofdespair

We all know about the $1.7 billion dollar fine paid by Rick Scott's Hospital empire and that he plead the 5th 75 times...that is, all of us except Republicans who obviously have blinders on or are brain-dead. Hiaasen's bon mots on Scott in today's Miami Herald:

"Scott was never charged with a crime, which is currently the high point of his resume." And:

"Even by Florida’s shaky standards, Rick Scott stands out as one of the most outlandish characters ever to pop out of the woodwork."
And:

"The fraud was so massive and institutionalized that his statement can't be taken seriously. If he truly didn't know what was happening all around him, he's an incompetent fool. And if he did know, he's a lying crook." Finally:

"If Scott wins, it will surely reignite the debate over whether Florida or California is the dumbest state in the union.

Meanwhile, the man who can’t grasp the definition of a promise has plenty of big ones to peddle. At every appearance, Scott grandly pledges to single-handedly slash property taxes, create 700,000 new jobs and shrink state government.

And right after that, he’ll climb into a great big balloon and fly Dorothy and Toto back to Kansas."

Scott's ad implies he wants to run Florida's government like a business. I am thinking we have done enough of that already, and that is why we are overbuilt and totally screwed in this economy.

The public and the private sector are very different (and should be) in some key ways. These differences do not preclude government from operating in a fiscally responsible manner. Populist conservative rhetoric often twists this issue. This Republican gets tired of that.
