She really got the edge on absentee balllots...that may be her last hurrah....but never underestimate Lynda Bell, she will say anything to get a vote but that is old news to you regular readers.

The Bell results thus far are the result of her tireless door to door effort. Over-dressed Taddeo did not knock on one door, to my understanding

a vote for bell is a vote for seijas...linda e-vil.

time to work hard for Flynn.

Election results show bigotry at work. Voters in district 8: welcome to the Tea Party takeover. Buyer beware!

There is no bigotry at work. Both candidates are fine people. Good luck to both of them!

We would be happy to have her out of Homestead.

I think that the results of this election are clear - Although money can influence an election, they can't buy it!

They tried to smear Mayor Flinn, it didn't work. They smeared former Mayor Bell but it backfired because EVERYONE has seen the new Administration's "true colors" and the real power players down there who are simply NO GOOD!

My choice was always between Mayor Flinn and Mayor Bell and I went with Bell because of her courageousness in standing up to these arrogant, greedy and corrupt interests who have nothing but contempt and disdain for the electorate. That fact alone went A LONG WAY with me.

And I see by one of the Anons above that the rest of this race is beginning to go negative and - quick. I hope not because both Mayor Flinn and Mayor Bell have both been exemplary candidates so far - Don't ruin it by having camps spread nasty and untrue rumors about each other.

The residents of District 8 deserve better. Don't make us regret our vote!

Of course you want her "out of Homestead" - you couldn't line your pockets while she was Mayor. That's the real story of her Administration.

Better hurry and get rich at the expense of Homestead taxpayers NOW, buddy, because a little over a year from now, that whole sorry excuse for a Council is going to get thrown out to the street - if the State Attorney's Office doesn't beat the voters to it!

Bell will try to smear Flinn's name just like she did (and still tries to do) to Bateman. Watch out Flinn fans, the mud will start slinging. This is the only way she knows how to fight. It is obvious the citizens of Homestead wanted to be rid of her.

Bateman is doing a great job all by himself in smearing his own name.

And to the Bateman fan, Lynda DID NOT do ONE single negative add against Bateman.

Baitman (developer) teamed-up with Wayne Rosen (developer) and Frank May (developer) - they raised a ton of cash, as Genius reporter earlier, and orchestrated a concerted effort to SMEAR BELL and run her out of office.

To Mayor Flinn - be very wary of these utterly disgusting people. You're a decent man. Strongly resist the urge to unjustly smear Lynda. Run on your record - nothing else.

People down here are wise to the "Job" these thugs did against Lynda and they want some outlet to show their disatisfaction. They won't let it happen again.

You have two candidates here with good qualifications. I am voting for the one who doesn't sling mud. It's as simple as that. Are you listening Lynda Bell? This is why you didn't get my vote in the primary. I suspect this is why you will not get my vote in this next go-round. Mr. Flinn, congratulations on running a good, clean, grass roots campaign.

Did u get any mud-slinging adds from Lynda Bell in the mail?

Because I didn't?

If you'll review all the candidate finance reports, you'll see that she not only was the least funded and least staffed, she did not have enough reources to even put out commercials, let alone decent mailers. And she only had about 18 volunteers for the past 4 months!

Genius, we know you support Mayor Flinn and we respect that. However, if Lynda Bell is a dirty campaigner and slings mud, as the last poster claims, We would all appreciate you using your investigative journalistic background in "digging" to prove or disprove the above charges against Bell.

History tells us that Bell can and does sling mud. Get her 2007 mayoral mail pieces and see for yourself. In 2009 she took credit for things that had been in the works for years. The so called moratorium was of no effect.

The moratorium had no effect, huh?

Say THAT to Rosen and May that same statement with a straight face. They would not have spent so much money out of their own pockets for spite.

I see the misinformation machine is up and about this morning - just as suspected.

A couple of points need to be made here. Katy Sorenson failed to bring south anywhere near the dollars that were going north from her district. That led directly to the areas under her watch fighting to be incorporated. The Redland tried also but for different reasons and Katy was wise to support them, but it failed due to the politics of infighting.
It is interesting that the current mayor and vicemayor of Homestead both endorse Gene Flinn. Why would city leaders go out of the city and support somebody who does not know your city? How petty can you be? Besides you won because nobody knew who was behind the PAC evidently.

To both candidates who rose to the top out of a field of eight at one time, don't fight each other but point out your accomplishments and how it relates to District 8.
Good people don't attack they promote.

Mayors often endorse each other, they meet at league of cities meetings, which the public can attend. And I suggest you do.

Lets put this moratorium b.s. to bed once and for all. As passed, it was full of exceptions AND the boom had already gone bust. Why not look at what was approved after the moratorium if you want proof that it was a big bunch of nothing other than a p.r. stunt. Rosen went after Bell because of several things other than the moratorium: Munz is or was a partner in M & H, the 93 Agreement was not going to be settled on terms favorable to Rosen on her watch and Bell was nasty just to be nasty on anything and everything that she did not agree with or had a score to settle with someone. Telling the truth in a campaign is not nasty or mudslinging. If Bell cant handle the truth she should not be in politics. BTW mischaracterizing your record or an event is just as bad as negative ads and mudslinging, Ms. Bell
