John Adornato is running for Oakland Park City Commission.Do I know him? Yep. Do I like him? Not so much. Would I vote for him? Yep. He is the National Parks Conservation Association's Sun Coast Regional Director. He cares about the environment. He is smart, diligent and motivated and I think he will do a good job. He has never been particularly friendly to me even though I have known him about 6 or 7 years. As you can see, he never mentioned to me that he is running for office but I wish him luck and I think he would make a great Commissioner.
The City of Oakland Park has this great campaign form which Miami Dade County should adopt. They have substantive questions to be answered by the candidates such as: Please provide a brief statement outlining why you wish to serve as Commissioner. And, Please describe your involvement and contributions to the City of Oakland Park. Here is the end of Adornato's answer to the second question:

He's always been pleasant to me and I always appreciated his presentations to the BBC.
He's also got my vote in next years best looking politician contest if you run it again.
