Eye on Miami Endorses Julio Robaina in the State Senate Primary. By Geniusofdespair

(If you don't see video hit this link)

I am happy to endorse Julio Robaina in the State Senate Primary for District 36. I have known him since he was South Miami Mayor. When I went to meet him ten years ago, he had an Audubon Magazine on his desk, I thought that was a good sign. He is a terrific guy. We don't always agree (Terry Schiavo) but he is always reasonable and respectful. If I were in the district, I could actually vote for him because I never bothered to change my party affiliation. (hit read more for second video)

sort of on topic - i was reviewing candidates campaign contributions and expenditures for district 2 county commission - why would a candidate be able to expense 2 airline tickets as part of campaigning?? it's not like you need a plane to fly around the district..joe celestine, loves to take his volunteers out to eat alot and uses delta and usair to travel the district..

Joe is just about as bad as Rolle.

miaexile, I haven't looked at the data, but could he have flown to a fundraiser somewhere? That's the most likely reason.

I like how Robaina said he doesn't want development in "my Everglades." If only everyone in SoFla would take that kind of ownership....

Robiana - State Rep Robaina- is a great guy, not to be confused with the Hialeah Mayor with the same name.

He used to hang out with Shiver when they were both Mayors; that excludes him in my book.

I Will also Vote for MDLP because I want to see the everglades paved and turned into a massive city on a swamp. I want the MIA terminal to cost $4 Billion (not just 2)I want lobbyist to have even more influence in Tallahassee, I don't think they have enough now.I would like to see developers set up offices in the Capitol Building and the LBA have a special section on the floor of the Senate (complete with Lego Building Block Set). I am a fan of Nepotism that's why I think voting for DLPs is a great idea, its reeeeally a shame Alex DLP isn't running for anything but I'm sure he's not done giving it to his constituents.

VIVA DLPs!!!!!

To the anon who says Mr Robaina hasn't done anything - go back and check. He has done quite a lot to protect HOA's and CA's with meaningful and necessary legislation. You may call him a laughing stock - but I call him deliciously dangerous. He is a guy with a conscience and who dares to buck the good old boy network that wants to run the state. We need more like him. Go find some more and tell them to run for office too. Robaina has my vote.

De La Tortilla did nothing as a county commissioner. Never replied to my letters, never a return phone call.
The whole lot of DLT clan should be kept out of our lives once and for all. Can't wait for dist 5school board elections!

Julio is a serious man with a clear understanding of the issues. He gave polished and smart answers at the candidates forum on Thursday. Oscar Musibay of the SF Daily Business Review asked tough questions with strong follow up questions so they couldn't weasal out.

I live in the district and I will be supporting Mr. Robaina for State Senate. Are we seriously going to elect another DLP into office with all the BS that family has done throughout the State?
Mr. Robaina is a man of principal who actually voted against raising the rates by AT&T on the house floor. If you ar not aware, Mr. Robaina has been employeed by AT&T for something like 20 years. That is the type of individual we need in office!!!!! By the way, please feel free to check how much money Mr. DLP has raised and who has provided all the money. I prefer a man with a backbone over an educated thief.
