District 8 Campaign Report: Eugene Flinn. By Geniusofdespair

Took a quick look, not much on this report except WESTSIDE CENTER, INC. which is Mario Ferro, who gave 4 donations under different corporations. Doesn't bother me that much because there aren't many like this but it should be noted. Ferro was trying to move the line last cycle and he gave Gene a total of $2,000.

Gene Flinn collected $17,310 during this reporting period, giving him a total of $40,045.08. These reports are so pathetically low, so far, they are not bothering me. Except they are making me very sad. It is just too hard to raise money. If someone is rich they are at a big advantage as we shall soon see.

Why do I say this is pathetically low? In comparison, that nut-job sitting Commissioner Javier Souto has raised $200,091, $104,711 during the same time Attorney Gene Flinn raised $17,310. There has to be a rats nest of givers on Souto's report.

I think Flinn is running a very good, grass roots campaign. It's going to be tough though.

Let's see what Bell raked in from the rock mining industry and charter schools.

incumbents usually fair better.

Looks like everyone else came in so late that their things will not post until next week?

I looked at Souto's. It was an eye opener. A lot from Pino's company's, including Krome Gold & Century Homebuilders, Adler's Company, the usual suspects of zoning attorney's. It looked like none, or very little, was actually from people in his district. There were a whole bunch with several companies with the same address, a lot heavy in Real Estate. Of course, Waste Management too..........

the Mayor's political career ends at the end of this race. No chance he competes with Taddeo's money engine!!!

Where can the reports be found online?

Anyone else notice Taddeo reading from cue cards at the forums?
Also she is very good at her non answers to the question posed and avoiding a direct response.

Palmetto Bay has a lobbying law that prevents anyone giving to a political campaign from lobbying the politician they donated to. Eugene Flinn is a sitting mayor there until November. I am not giving for that reason, just on the chance I may go before the council on an issue.

link to campaign reports...you have to look up corporate donations to make your search meaningful.

If Taddeo's mind was as full of ideas as her wallet is, she'd be the perfect candidate. Too bad, soo sad.

Actually, she IS the perfect candidate just the way she is - for Congress!

See ya in 2 years, Annie.

I think it's very telling of the other candidates to file so late in the day that they won't post until Monday.

I think the County purposely made public financing so difficult, only incumbents have the machine to raise 6 figures.

When the rest of the VERY late reports come in, it will be interesting to see how much and where funds came from to the other candidates - including how much they "loaned" themselves and how much came from within Dist. 8.

Flinn should resign just to save face. The race will be between Taddeo and Piedra. The rest can't compete in fundraising!

If that is true, it is a sad day. One who buys the race and the other who reeks of being another developer puppet

Reviewing preliminary results and it looks like several of Marin's candidates/puppets are either behind in fundraising or lagging behind the polls.

Stay tuned to find out "What will Marin do?"

Sam, not in Dist. 8. We're not ruled by who has the most funds in a campaign account. We're an issues district. We cannot be bought.

My final report was not filed on Friday. We are in the process of closing the bank account and want everything cleared 1st. It should be done in a week or two. Most of my donors were local. Everyone who contributed to my campaign received 100% of their donations back. I covered the expenses, which weren't too bad.
