This is Vile Natacha Seijas being charming. By Geniusofdespair
This is Vile Natacha at her very best, I like the last few seconds. I just don't think she has it in her to be likable even when she gets a halfway decent thing passed.
She shouldn't wear a turtle neck sweater. I got through 10 seconds of this. The ordinance was good, but she still sucks and is un watchable because she's just vile all the way through!
I'm finding it very difficult to be proud of any of our county commissioners anymore. They either articulate with a grade school level of education or have been over-fed at the public trough. Why can't this community attract educated, honest and hard working public servants?
Because we are too ethnically/racially divided and we are further divided by district voting. Until we all come together and do our homework on candidates we will get inferior government.
To last anon - because the County Commission has made sure these elections are so expensive, honest people cannot raise the funds, especially in this current economy.
Public financing is almost non existent since the rules changed in 2008. I'll stand corrected as to who wrote the Ordinance (I think it was Jordan's after she was re elected) to increase the threshold for a Candidate to apply for public financing. It used to be raising funds (no minimum amount)from within the Commission District the Candidate is running from a minimum of 300 District voters, which was reasonable and obtainable. Now it is a minimum of 300 District voters, contributing at least $100 but no more than $250.
And, the Commission can use their current seats, garnering support via means of their discretionary funds or pet ordinances.
Honest people will have to take money from sources that they would rather not play with to run. Just remember that honest people can take money from all sorts of donors without following in love with their agendas.
This ordinance was sponsored by the ghost of Lenin and fidel castro (what's left of him). "Exploited workers" my arse what about overtaxed homeowners and over licesed small businesses that are being put out of biznez, by the gang of 13 and their beemer loving boss.
Heyman is nasty. I just googled a whole bunch of stuff regarding Jay Beskin and that campaign. She filed an elections complaint against him because he didn't use closed captioning on some ads. I also found this:
I should remind the readers on here, Heyman is not saint, no matter how she appears. For those familiar with the Lowes application, she voted "YES" to move it to the DCA. She was the swing vote which led to years of litigation (still going on). If she would have voted to not move Lowes forward, thing about all the time & money we would have saved. That is just one example of a hearing I'll never forget with her.
I'm crossing my fingers someone runs against her. She needs to go - in fact, all of the incumbents on the BCC need to go. The only one I'd re elect is Commissioner Sorenson, and she's leaving. I can't blame her when you think about all the agenda's (hidden or otherwise) she deals with from the other Commissioner's.
Advancing applications to the DCA gives commissioner's cover -- they can then say to campaign contributors "I have to say No or Yes based on their review".
GoD - Heyman pushed to up the dollar threshold from $250 to $500 and to allow corporate donations. She wasn't involved in the push to destroy public campaign financing. I don't know how she voted on it.
The attack on public campaign financing was mainly from Barreiro and Souto.
Barreiro caught his opponent cheating the system and got him disqualified. Bruno then got reelected unopposed. As a result, he worked to make using the system harder. Souto added stuff about the majority of the money had to come from the district (unless you declined public funding in which case you could get all your money from Texas oil companies if you wanted).
Souto's opponent last time tried to use the warped system anyway and couldn't make it work. She would have had a better shot if they hadn't intentionally made the rules so messed up.

Life must be different now for VNS now that the builders have all but disappeared. Who is there to fluff her up?

Sally Heyman was the sponsor. See Jay Beskin in our search.

Heaven help Miami Dade - we're screwed!

The vile one will probably not run in 2011 and you will see her favorite son herminio lorenzo as a candidate for district 13.
