Photo: County Commissioner Katy Sorenson and Shannon Estenoz unfurl silk scarf signed by Majory Stoneman Douglas.South Florida Water Management District Board Member Shannon Estenoz received the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Defender of the Everglades Award from the Group Friends of the Everglades on Sunday at Fairchild Tropical Garden. Estenoz worked as Everglades Program Director for World Wildlife Fund and then as Director of the Sun Coast Region for the National Parks Conservation Association.
She was appointed to the South Florida Water Management District Board in 2007. Katy Sorenson, a previous recipient of the award, was on hand for the presentation ceremony.
