Leon Russell you had better be good. by Geniusofdespair
I am on line at a dive on US 1 just off of Oakland Park Blvd. called the Culture Room. I went early to get a good table. Guess what...no tables. This sucks. Leon Russell better deliver.
I am back home. The sound system at this place was from hunger. As I mentioned, this was a table-less place but it was also pretty much chair-less too and people were smoking. I am sitting at the computer, still smelling smoke.
Leon was 68 today, not quite how I remembered him especially with the cane. His voice is still clear, could hear it in the one song without the band. He wrote one of my favorite songs so there is always a place in my heart for Leon Russell...
I love you in a place where there's no space or time
I love you for in my life you are a friend of mine
And when my life is over
Remember when we were together
We were alone and I was singing this song for you

ahhh, the Culture Room, standing room only!
Fortunately it's easy to smoke weed there!
Leon was gracious, autographing things people passed him on the tour bus.
It was a geezer crowd.
Everyone, including Leon,
were home before their iPhones
them turned into pumpkins.
There's an app for that.
OH, God, I love this guy. I should have gone.
Sorry I missed this, I didn't see he was in town.
That's a weird venue, though they have booked some great acts lately (agree the sound system is piss poor).
I have had the good fortune to see this great man in concert, up close and personal, with tables and chairs and an excellent sound system, three times in my life. He is one of our generation's greatest song writers. I am glad to know he is still performing.
