The" Jobs" Senate Bill Passed - SB 1752. By Geniusofdespair

The Jobs Bill that was made toxic by Republicans with amendments, that we both wrote about yesterday, passed unanimously however they stripped the crap out of it. According to the Orlando Sentinel:

"Local governments had been alarmed by some of the bill's provisions to eliminate or modify state development regulations. Republicans had hoped to kick-start development by forcing the state to approve permits faster – within 30 days, instead of 90 -- and requiring larger cities and counties to take over wetland permitting from the state. Cities, counties and environmentalists said the change could run afoul of federal clean water laws.

But those provisions were removed Thursday, Gaetz said, in part to avoid a floor fight with Democrats and allow the bill to pass unanimously."

What's left in the bill? The Sentinel says:

"...a dozen different changes to the state's economic-development incentives, including offering tax credits for the film industry, boat-builders, aerospace businesses and many others. It also would cap sales taxes on boat sales."

"Cap sales taxes on boats"? Why? Don't they already have tax breaks on megaboats? Sounds like many state Republicans want to buy boats soon. I can understand the other businesses but boat sales? Who in the government has ties/friends in the boat selling business?

there are sales tax caps on yacht sales in every surrounding and coastal state EXCEPT Florida. People don't buy yachts here in Florida because of that. If they don't buy them here, they more often than not, get them repaired and worked on in other states as well. that translates to jobs.

Why wasn't the outcome of the environmental provisions that the editorial board denounced yesterday in the Herald paper today? No followup?
