Moss, Sosa and Martinez voted against the settlement. Some others held their nose but voted for it. There was no discussion. It passed. Seijas was absent. Wackenhut can now seek more business with the county. That sucks.
Readers, if you want to watch a SPECIFIC issue on the county meetings webcam, you CAN now. Just hit on the the issue in the window below the video screen and the video will jump right to your issue. It is a handy addition to the meetings as many issues are held out of order. If you are a MAC user, forget it, you won't see the screen when you hit the link.

Why didn't the Miami Herald report how they voted. This is interesting to me. We should know how our commissioners vote so we can evaluate them at election time.
Why was there no discussion. You can't expect the general public to have read the background documentation. This was a backroom deal arrangement done out of the sunshine of the regular citizen. Shame on you Miami Dade County and Burgess for at least not reading the settlement.
I complained years ago about the county website being mac unfriendly. It went down a black hole. Guess you could expect that when some county commissioners don't even use email and believe the Internet uses plastic tubes that send informTion in cylinders using high pressure air.
We just never learn.
that is a very good feature to be able to find the video by item..score one for the county!
The webcasting feature is a major improvement, especially for those on satellite TV since they don't have to carry local city/county government channels.
For all their faults, the Commission pushed for this technology, and the computer geeks in the County really did wonders with it. Props to Commissioner Moss for pushing for this and the 311 call center ideas.
To all those whiners out there, it wasn't but a couple years ago that you had to watch the broadcast live or order a Tape or DVD at $20 a pop. If you wanted to know what they were talking about, you had to register with the Clerk to get copies of the agendas mailed, or you had to go to the meetings. Now you can read the history of each item, and with few exceptions, download ALL of the material - cover memos, fiscal impact statements, attachements, legal settlements with a click of the mouse.
Mac Users Have To Download Firefox Web Browser this will let you see dade county commission meetings online...
