Sarnoff just said that the City is in full-on crisis mode!

This city will be under the financial oversight board before the end of this year.

All of the perpetrators of this crime against the citizens of Miami by the last administration should be held professionally and personally responsible for their mismanagement and betrayal of our trust. How dare them to have granted that huge subsidy to the Marlins at the expense and detriment of our community! A broken city is their only true legacy. Shame and incarceration would be too small a price for them to repay us with.

How about instead of prison, requiring them to drive back and forth on US 1, from sun rise to sun down.

Good thing he has started to figure things out now.
Poor Regalado is the Cuban-conservative Obama

Let's not forget that Regalado was a commissioner for just about FOREVER...he can't blame it on the previous Mayor, he voted on the budget and it is his policies that were in place.

Commissioners are advised by our city’s CPA’s and auditors regarding budget matters. They are counting on those advisers to provide accurate information and not to purposely or accidentally conceal the true facts. Commissioner Regalado stood opposed to many of the ill-conceived efforts of Manny Diaz and his three Amigo’s that consistently used their Commissioner votes to rubber stamp his projects. If at least two other Commissioners had been responcible enough to follow Regalado’s lead, then our city would not be in as big a mess as it is now. Regalado and Sarnoff where the only two Commissioners that saw the folly in supporting the massive subsidy of the Marlin Stadium and Parking Garage. Only Regalado and Sarnoff cared enough about our community and our future to stand up against Manny Diaz, Joe Sanchez, Michelle Spence-Jones and Angel Gonzalez. Even though those four are now gone, their legacy of helping to bankrupt Miami will linger on for many years to come. Most of the citizens of Miami knew the truth, that they where deceived and even denied the right to vote on the Marlin Stadium subsidy. That is why Regalado was elected to be Mayor with a 72 % margin and those other folks have departed in a dark cloud of culpability, shame and disgrace.

No baseball will ever be played in the new Marlins Stadium. It will be the site of several public hangings.

Does the Governor have the power to suspend a city?

9 Post and not ONE mention of city's employee salaries and pension system.

The 800 pound gorilla in the budget.

The City of Miami is facing a $150 Million Budget Deficit because the City overpays its firemen and most of its other employees. When taxpayers are forced to pay over $150,000 for every firemen bankruptcy is not far behind.

What City can afford to pay firemen $8,000 per month? In overtime alone?

Too bad fire isnt up this year. Did anyone (else) go to the Pension forum that the Mayor held?

Guess not.....

City Manager needs to fire 300 city employees. Maybe 500.

Harry...What the Hell does the Marlins Stadium have to do with the current budget deficit? Get a grip man...just let it go. You don't know what the hell you are talking about so please please shutup about the stadium. That train has left the station. Grow up you old broken record!

Harry, you say commissioners actually listen to the advice of professionals? I find that highly hypocritical. So, please explain why is it that they won't listen to the advice of the planners who advise them on zoning issues and Miami 21? Those advices are most always ignored.
Commissioners do whatever is convenient to them, not what the professionals tell them, so don't try to blame the CPA's and others around. Ultimately it it the commissioner's responsibility to ask questions, read the documents, analyze the numbers, and then ask more questions. Problem is, they are incompetent, starting with Regalado! Now he is the leader of the pack. The blind leading the blind.

The bailout of the Marlins will cost the taxpayers far more than $3 Billion. The cost to County and to City taxpayers will be felt for a hundred years, far after the damned stadium is demolished.

In addition to taking all the taxes generated by tourists that should be used to promote and maintain tourism the County and the City will be diverting General Fund money to cover debt service and other expenses that only benefit the Marlins.

The City of Miami will be bankrupt unless 250 to 500 employees are fired and other cost cutting measures are implemented.

What do you expect, The City of Miami has been run like a banana republic for many years now. The makeup of the city prevents any wholesale changes in the city government, How could any one have confidence in anything comming out of city hall to be the truth..

Remember that both Regalado and Sarnoff were sitting as commissioners when the budget passed!

We always reelect the same people.

About October of last year, Denis Rod said on a TV program I believe La Ley that the problems with the City of Miami would not be solved in 2 years - there are too many and they go too deep. History has proved him right. It is obvious that he had the knowledge and the understanding of what was and STILL IS going on at the City of Miami. We have a very critical situation and no one seems to know what to do. Not the Mayor nor the commissioners Gort and Sarnoff. The 3 were there when the problems started and continue. I'll not mention the 3 new ones, since it is their first time on the commission.

Too bad we did not elect Rod. I believe he would have had some ideas of how to start straightening out this mess!
