John Thrasher to head my party? I think not. By Geniusofdespair

As a newly minted Republican, all I can say is I am disappointed with the choice of John Thrasher to head the party. He has ethical problems. You will remember that on October 10, 2009 Beth Reinhard reported on Thrasher:

"The Florida Legislature, reeling from two separate influence-peddling scandals, has an opening on an ethics and elections committee. That's the panel that's supposed to help keep elected officials and candidates in line. And the guy picked to be the chairman is a lobbyist-turned-legislator-turned- lobbyist-turned-legislator who has gotten in trouble twice for violating -- wait for it -- Florida's ethics and elections laws? Welcome to Tallahassee, where term limits amount to a quick spin through the revolving door between public office and special interests."

And, then there was the famous Thrasher mis-information letter (at left, hit on it to enlarge it). A St. Pete Times editorial, said about the letter:

"They first tried simply to outbid Hometown Democracy, inviting the top 60 signature gatherers to a meeting where they were offered three times as much money to change sides. Then they sent petition signers a preposterous letter from former House Speaker John Thrasher: "Unless you want higher property taxes, higher utility bills and Florida's scenic beauty destroyed by Big Developers, you will certainly want to revoke your signature from their petition."

Can the party at least find ONE ethical person to hold this important office? Also one that is not also holding office? He cannot do justice to both jobs.

Nope. This John Thasher guy, he ain't for me.

Well at least we know who John Thrasher stands for: pro-developer, pro Jeb Bush, anti-Florida Hometown Democracy and part of the forces who will say anything and do anything to defeat Amendment 4. Thrasher warned against "deception": wasn't the petition revocation measure he was ringing the bell for, overturned by the Florida Supreme Court? It is pretty clear who is deceiving, who.
