Headed Home. By Geniusofdespair

It has been a good trip. I got to see lots of snow and saw a lot of pleasant relatives. The trip was marred only by few hysterical calls from my mother in law. I guess my future, hearing of her bitter outlook day after day, is a major buzz kill. Readers promise me one thing -- try to live in a positive state of mind or else your relatives will hate hearing your bitter, whinnig recount of every detail of your health problems so much they will avoid you. Find the humor in everything and share that! You will be a lot more popular and people will have funny stories to tell at your funeral.

My Mom left us with a very interesting philosophy. It was simply that "happiness is an internally generated phenomenon that has nothing to do with others". Further, that "whatever situation you find yourself in, be thankful and happy, because there are a whole lot of people who wished they were in your situation." "If you can see, hear, walk, talk, have the use of your limbs, feed yourself, or go to the bathroom by yourself, you need to be happy." So, my advice to everyone, is simply, be happy and spread cheer! Happy New Year!

Did you have to bring the cold weather back with you?

Welcome Home! I know that Gimmy missed you, too.

I have barred my mother and father from watching Fox news or listening to Spanish Radio. I would wake up every morning with a list of all the world's ills before I could get a gulp of coffee down.
I love them both but I can relate to the "negative waives".
They have little to care about and so all they can do is worry(that's when Fox News comes in).I will just keep trying to correct the misinformation and hope for the best.

Just discovered your blog, I don't live in the area, but something tells me I'll be reading here often anyway!
