How Did I Get on the NRA Mailing List? By Geniusofdespair

I just got this really nice gold, red and black NRA decal and an opportunity to get $5,000 in accident insurance free for a membership fee of $25.00 a year. I am clumsy, the insurance could come in handy. I wonder if I have to die to collect? And, then there is the free magazine and duffel bag to consider and the $1,000 in firearm insurance. Such a tempting deal. (hit on image to enlarge it) The decal has a lot of power, they say:

When your local lawmakers see this shield...they see crystal-clear proof that if they push gun registration, licensing and prohibition, they can expect defeat on Election Day.

And what do we need the NRA to protect us from:

Your constitutional right to own a gun is under attack by anti-gun politicians and administration officials, global gun ban diplomats at the U.N., militant anti-hunting extremists, radical billionaires and the freedom hating Hollywood elite.

You should join so that you may gain knowledge in reference to firearms. Every honest citizen should own a gun under today's world. I myself have carried a gun since WW2 and am an excellent shot. If one of the criminals who are so prevalent today should pull a gun on you, you may be grateful if someone near has a license to carry a gun and protects your life. The world has gone to hell with all the killings going on from bad people so it is time good people were prepared to protect themselves.

Hey Mensa. I have a better idea. If we actually gave a cr*p who had guns, those criminals you're so scared of, wouldn't have them!

I would join for the heavy duty duffel bag if there wasn't all the political baggage attached to the group...God knows, I need protection from all those radical billionaires I know.

You don't need to join the NRA to gain knowledge on firearms. That is not what they are about.

I used to subscribe to National Review back when WFB was the active editor; you can imagine what kind of "crap" came in the mail (mostly Ronnie love dolls and what not).

If everyone who objected to/ or wanted MORE regulation of guns joined the NRA, which is such a powerful lobby, they might change the message.
