The Miami Herald said, "Miami Commissioner Angel Gonzalez, facing a criminal probe, has agreed to resign before the end of the year as part of a deal with prosecutors, several sources say."
There will be 3 new Commissioners on the dais (4 if the current probe of Spence-Jones bears fruit). City of Miami Commission Chair Marc Sarnoff might be the most powerful man in the City of Miami soon.

And that is a really scary thought.
I guess that he stopped paying off Fernandez-Rundel
Angel Gonzalez had gotten bored being commissioner. Or maybe he was preoccupied with criminal investigations?
Clearly, Gonzalez was making stupid decisions. He hated the Miami River marine industry because he had friends who wanted to condo every square inch.
Who can forget Gonzalez's vote to use taxpayer money to bailout the Marlins? $3 bil gone..., all by the votes of three IQ elected officials at the City and 9 imbeciles at Miami-Dade County.
The only thing better would be if Gonzalez and Spence-Jones past votes that have damaged our community so badly could now be overturned.
LIke the Marlin's deal. Boy, have you checked out have fast they put cement in the ground! Knowing that they would never have the votes after the recent election: they're building the stadium faster than the concrete can cure. I say, tear it all down now! Let them sue us.
Sarnoff actually voted for the deal as well. I think it is time for people to understand this. There was an item that needed to be passed by a super-majority, 4 out of 5 votes. That items was to waive competitive bidding to allow the Hunt/Moss team to construct the Stadium. Sarnoff knew very well, as did most, that had that no-bid waiver died, the deal would have crumbled. Yet, he voted for it anyways.
At the County, Martinez played the same game. He voted against the deal, but, when it came time to vote on the no-bid that the County had to approve by a super majority (2/3 or 9 votes with a full Commission present), he voted for it.
Both Sarnoff and Martinez therefore, voted for the Stadium, when you boil down the facts here, and the morons at the Herald haven't figured it out. Someone has to call these elected officials out!!
Your statement regarding Sarnoff being the most powerful man in the City of Miami soon is an understatement. He has been seriously involved in getting Frank Carollo and Francis Suarez elected. Held fundraisers for them and both share Steve Marin as a consultant. His goal is to control the commission with a 3/2 vote. Keep an eye on this one!
Can't decide what story is more fun to follow: the Scott Rothstein train wreck or the City of Miami government implosion.
Sarnoff did vote to allow the Marlins Stadium deal to go forward.
So Gonzalez made a huge government contractor hire his daughter for a no-show job? I wonder how much she made? He made?
