City of Miami: is Spence Jones finally going down for the count? by gimleteye

What a sad spectacle that Miami and Miami-Dade's inner city districts continue to be pulled down by local elected officials. The news in the Herald today is that the long running investigation of Spence Jones turned on cooperation by the former county commissioner, Barbara Carey Shuler. Too bad it didn't happen before the Marlins' stadium votes.

Oh why can't this be a few MD Commissioner's.......It would be so nice to be free from the Communist hold of County Government by the Unreformable Majority & I'd even send VNS a better designer bag to hold her prison toiletry's!

Really, government corruption needs to come with a death penalty or something. Never ending list of scumbags.

The only thing better would be if Gonzalez and Spence-Jones past votes that have damaged our community so badly could now be overturned.

Spence-Jones was stealing from the taxpayers every time she cashed a check on her annual $104,000 pay from the City. Wasn't $104,000 enough? (Her constituents average $18,000) Plus she made the taxpayers pay for a SUV and a City policeman to drive her around, even to pick up her kid at day camp and school. Ick. Think she reported the free limo service to the IRS?

How many times did Spence-Jones or her staff shake someone down who has yet to report the crime? How many victims are still out there?

Often criminals commit many crimes but only get indicted for 1 or 2.

Why did Carey-Schuler wait until after the Stadium vote to tell the truth about Spence-Jones? Wonder who slipped her some moola to wait..these people will eat their own for a few dollars.

Looks like she is done. Crist just signed an order removing her. Mayor Regalado not only has a clean slate, he has an empty city commission and no police chief. I'm going to guess that responsible employees who work at the city are breathing a sigh of relief until the place fills up again.

Now all the City of Miami employees and Miami-Dade County employees who feel entitled to rip off the taxpayers should update their resumes and resign. Resign now.

Or why don't those corrupt City of Miami and County employees mail their resumes to the City of South Miami. Moneyed special interests and Mayor Horace Feliu will welcome you with open arms. Maybe that's why Horace attended the City of Miami Mayor's swearing in ceremony this week - it was a recruitment drive. Welcome aboard corrupt and incompetent County and City of Miami employees - South Miami needs you, just call Chamber South for a referral.

Manny Diaz and Carlos Alvarez must have been getting a piece of the Marlins action. When will they get to do the perp walk?
