More on arson attack of Mayor Pizzi's law office ... by gimleteye

Yes, it is a real Miami mystery. The Herald reports that among the missing files in law office of the mayor of Miami Lakes; paperwork in a lawsuit against the county for rules on recall elections "imposed about three years ago that make it harder to bring forward voter ballot initiatives such as recalls." (Mayor'soffice hit by arson attack, October 22, 2009). Pizzi was a leader in the effort to recall county commissioner Natacha Seijas that failed when a tidal wave of special interest money came to her defense.

The best public record of that citizen's recall effort, the de facto chair of the county commission from Hialeah, is here on Eyeonmiami. (see our archive, under "Seijas". No subscription necessary.). Pizzi, through the Seijas recall and other efforts-- (on behalf of homeowners whose properties had been damaged by rock mine explosions in West Dade) -- decided to run for public office and won. In this respect, he is one of a kind in Miami-Dade: smart, voluble, and committed to better government. He represented citizen intervenors, for example, in the case against moving the Urban Development Boundary in the Lowe's application; a zoning change approved by the unreformable majority of the county commission and rejected by the state of Florida and which the county continues to litigate.

The attack on Pizzi's law office left easily detectable traces of fuel. It looks amateurish and bizarre. It is not in the nature of the immoveable status quo to burn down a law office and attract the attention of federal law enforcement. In normal times, everything goes better when things are quiet and money works its magic behind the scenes. On the other hand, these are not normal times. Who needs this kind of attention?

It pains me to see what happened to Mike Pizzi. It wouldn't surprise me if the fire was set in order to conceal a burglary of his office. It would be hard to tell which documents were removed as most of them are probably destroyed by the fire or water used to put out the fire.

It is my hope that one day, Mike will serve as county commissioner for that area. He is exactly what we need on the BOCC. I wouldn't say that the entire BOCC is against him, just the unreformable majority.

Mike holds grudges. That is the last thing we need on the county commission, we already have a few of those.

If he still has the stomach for it,Mike should run for State Attorney. Then maybe we can clean up this crooked county.
I would guess he lost lots of files important to his case against the county on the petition issue. What better way to win a case? Tie the hands of the opposing attorney.
Hang in there Mike, maybe they made a fatal flaw.

As long as we are speculating, don't forget tough guy wannabe, Pepe Diaz. Didn't he sponsor some or all of the lousy petition ordinances?

What's a crazy coincidence. Is that I, happen to be his former client. And met up with him the day prior to this arson attack. Approximately 6 hours prior to its occurrence, if it happenned persay at 11 at night.

They must of been watching him to attack after he left.
The thievery detail in the first post sounds possible. What sucks is that I just re-hired him for a case I got in Miami to sue the crap out of the Miami Dade police department and my prior council for incompetence to say the least of my issue. And I thought Manny Diaz had part in this, since my wife, used to date his son, before I snagged my wife and created my family. heh The corruptness must stop. We are too smart to have to deal with such thugs now a days. Cameras will be implemented next time, and the joke will be on the arsonists! To think how many people Pizzi helps by being honest and humble, this is not what my lawyer, Mayor Pizzi deserves!

I am outraged, and will humbly help, in any way needed. After all, at the moment. My wife and kids depends on his superior knowledge and assistance with the legal aspects of the ridiculous situation that I find myself in.

You guys think Pizzi holds grudges? He's a puppy compared to this Monarchy descendant. You guys done messed with the big dogs. Never mess with the big dogs, we bite back with vengeance!
