Miami Herald editors: on foreclosure rate, which is it? by gimleteye

Here is The Miami Herald, on the story it really does not want to tell: the rate of foreclosures.

17 percent?
October 19, 2009: "The foreclosure rate-- at 17 percent of loans statewide ... " (Foreclosure backlog complicates housing recovery, Monica Hatcher, Miami Herald)

25 percent?
October 17, 2009: "During the second quarter of the year, nearly one in four Florida home loans were past due or in foreclosure (25 percent), making Florida the most delinquent state in the nation, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association." (Foreclosure crisis far from over for South Florida, Cammy Clark, Miami Herald)

2 percent?
October 19, 2009: "... no city has been hit harder than Homestead, where one out of every 49 homes was in some stage of foreclosure in September." ("Homestead deals with boom aftermath", Tania Valdemoro, Miami Herald)

It is true that Homestead has "the highest rate in a county with one of the highest foreclosure rates in the state." Not to mention the nation, so let's assume the Herald made a mistake. But what is it: 17 percent, 25 percent, or 2 percent. Herald editors: correction, please.

Completely unrelated to the topic, but what do you guys think about the Lewis B Freeman FBI raid in relation to Lewis Freeman's relationship with Joe Sanchez?

Too unrelated to the topic to care.

This looks normal in the real estate world... too many statistics, all of them mismatching
