Here is a Shocker: Terry Riley Resigns from MAM. By Geniusofdespair

Straight from the press release: Aaron Podhurst, Chairman of the Board of Trustees today announced that Terry Riley has resigned as Director of the Miami Art Museum (MAM), effective immediately. Mr. Riley will be resuming his role as partner at Keenen/Riley Architects, with various design and consulting projects in New York, Spain and Mexico, and will continue to work with MAM as a consultant through June 30, 2010 on the creation of their new home in downtown Miami.

This appears to be a job I am pretty well suited for...I could picture myself chewing the fat with Aaron and the culture club set. And, I am just as prickly as Terry if that is a requirement of the post.

I don't know how else to get it out there, but rumor has it that with all the cuts in the Miami-Dade budget, they still somehow have the ability to purchase a 70,000 sq. ft. CLASS A warehouse in the heart of Doral in a very nice Business Park....get this...for a dog pound. That's what I call a smart way to spend money.

What the animals can't live in a CLASS B or C warehouse?

I am pretty sure the warehouse is off of 87th AVE and NW 25th ST somewhere.

The rats are leaving the sinking ship. Miami Art Museum has no cash left and even the idiots at Miami-Dade County do not want another PAC Center disaster.

T.Riley go home ( NY ).. Miami isn't ready for a big city type Museum of Art and and clearly this is the worst time to try and build a new structure to house it all. What has appeared in the Wynwood area over the last several years is perfect for our city and is better suited for a poor "world class" city. Besides, the land on the bay should stay free of anymore concrete - or any homage to your own vanity. Just pack up your bags and go back to NY.

Anon 1's Bichon Frise must have been soiled by one of the mutts from the Animal Shelter.

Why don't you just have your Wine-and-Cheese crowd live up to their commitments? Then you build your monument to snobbery anywhere you want.

This blog is getting boring - spice it up a little.

Miami is broke and the Miami Art Museum is so broke they need to borrow to pay a bankruptcy attorney.

When you are broke you are broke. What taxpayer wants to bail out another "rich person's folly" that they will never visit?

Big museums are being canceled and downsized throughout the country. See front page article in December 12th, 2009 "New York Times". "In the Arts, Bigger Buildings May Not Be Better".

Let us see if the idiots at Miami-Dade County have courage or if they will approve another disaster?

Broke means broke. Miami Art Museum should stay in its current taxpayer owned location. That site is larger than it needs already. Why do idiots want to use taxpayer money to move them to another larger more expensive location?
