Miami Herald Reporter Baits Mayor's Chief of Staff Morales on Pay Raise. By Geniusofdespair

He shouldn't joke about this but I can't imagine that he knew he was being video-taped.

He is staring at the camera? Does the Herald do undercover stuff with spy cameras?

Oh, wow. I would hate to be him today.

HAHAHAHA, I am laughing so hard!

It's even funnier when I think that this guy's salary is coming out of my pocket.

A suggestion: lose the black t-shirt, go out and buy a shirt and tie.

No respect for the taxpayers, none at all.

The video quality is too good to be one of those hidden tiny cameras. I could be wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time.

Ugh, I'd kill for a $17k paycheck.

let the people vote, as long as they agree with us

After taxes, even at 38%, he'd net around $10,540! Not a bad chunk of change for someone making over $200K per year........I'd like to laugh but cannot. It's all so absurd and he's so smug about it. That's a years salary for some but it's not that much too him.

I don't think anyone, and I mean anyone, in County Hall should be making more than Crist or the Chief of Staff to the President!

herald said he was remorseful about the comments. i bet he is. now.

Doesn't Dennis Morales remind you of guys named "Pauley" in Wise Guy/Mafia Movies?

I'm sure if he leaves the County, he will have no trouble earning $200k a year in the private sector.....not

The shirt and attitude just sum up the gangster mentality these folks have. They laugh in everyones face because they know regardless what comes out in the media, they will continue to fatten their pockets. Has anyone ever done a public records request on his police career? I bet there are some skeletons in there!

His police file probably has been sanitized. No officer would ever rat him out (or repeat any tale about him or certain other folks)... That would be career ending.

As we are paying these kinds of salaries, I would like to point out the following

-- tax payers were forced to stand on their feet for up to 8 hours in lines in order to address the BCC.

-- Many left because they did not have the constitution to stand for so long.

--Those who survived it, got 2 minutes to speak

-- Mayor popped in and out without explaining, appologizing or acknowleding the public.

-- Seats were set aside in the lobby for residents who did not wish to speak.

-- No sign in sheet was made available

-- no one policed the lines for older people to see if they needed assistance.

Call me picky, but if I were Mayor or a Commissioner, I would excuse myself before I left to take a meal or a pit stop. I would also acknowlege that I would read the transcript for any remarks that I missed.

I know it was a long and miserable day, but a little humility goes a long way. Humility, not disrespect guys. You work for us, remember?

Too many times I sat in the commission chamber for 8 hours without a break (for fear they would take my item out of order) while the commissioners ate, drank and joked from the dais. We, of course, would be thrown out if we had a bottle of water!

Stop complaining you SERFS and get back to work so you can pay your taxes, your masters need their six figure incomes just because. Who are you to question them and their infinite wisdom? You see I can't even afford a tie to wear to the meetin.

Hey Denis, high school is calling, you forgot to finish...

no, seriously. Someone said he was the Mayor's Godson. Is that true?

This was no hidden camera. Believe me, the idiot knew he was being videotaped. The mayor's office later apologized for it. And wouldn't you know it, nothing was done to discipline him for this. County administration sucks. The mayor has no nuts and he and his cronies don't care about us ...

Hey ghost wat du u meen In didn't finich I was talking bout the meetin.Plus yous guys r gonna miss me and all mi talents when I gets a big paying job in the private sector, then maybe I can aford a tie.

If you have a job you are supposed to work, not BS about yourself, which he would find hard to avoid.

Denis will be just another lobbyist in a few years. He will be a closet lobbyist at that, since he will have to "wait" 2 years before he can lobby the county. Just like certain people didn't do from the former mayor, he will be lobbying from dark corners.

not all the staffers are nasty. there are some very nice people working there and some others shouldn't be there because they are working for the county for all the wrong reasons and public service is not exactly their forte. not that they care what folks think about them or what they do, they don't.

don't forget that burgess' staff is really the mayors staff, so people need to clump them together.

What crooks. While Alvarez was telling the public to cut back he was giving huge raises to his staff. The staffers are typically greedy and since they were all pushing the bailout for the Marlins they are corrupt too.

That little man (he's rather short) was a cop, and now he's been demoted from this "job" to copy again. I knew him as a kid. Believe me, this is the LAST person you want wielding a gun.
