Sunshine Alert: "Private" Republican meeting in Miami on health care reform ...

Excerpt form a "Democracy for America Miami-Dade Newsletter", 8/30/2009

Sen. Mel Martinez is hosting Sens. John McCain & Mitch McConnell for a private healthcare reform meeting at a corporate health care facility out of the view of the constituents they claim to serve. DFAM wants to remind them that there's more than one reason why Florida is called the Sunshine State. Please attend the rally.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st, PALMETTO GENERAL HOSPITAL, HIALEAH, FL 2:00 PM

Ccan someone please find me an educated Democrat? The Senate and the Congress are not subject to Florida's public meeting laws.

Will these same Democrats protest when their leaders caucus privately in Washington?

Can someone please find me an educated Republican? Just because something is legal does not make it ethical nor right!

While cut-and-run Mel Martinez and sell-out McCain meet behind closed doors to discuss their strategy for maintaining the grip of big insurance companies on the lives of Floridians, there are patients being denied services by big insurance company bureaucrats, people going bankrupt and losing their homes because of catastrophic illnesses while fighting big insurance bureaucrats, and others losing their lives tragically because they had no insurance and their illness progressed to a terminal degree.

How is this humane, fair or 'educated'?

I disagree. They will be in full view of the constituents they actually serve.

If you are concerned about health care that is "humane, fair or educated" you should look at the Democrats in Congress. They've been in control for years and now control both houses and the Presidency. What they don't control is the American people who see through your rant.

Local Republican officials have been exclusively invited and have been advised to arrive no later then 3PM.

This is not so much an attempt to hold "frank discussions", as it is an orchestrated attempt to solidify support among the local leadership structure in republican districts. HENCE the decision to hold this event in Hialeah. Event's such as these have taking place around the country.

They hope to change the rather comfortable position of public indifference that local politicos have. These local sheep will gladly attend in order to be seen with the head honchos and to garner brownie points. But in return their support will be implied.

I would like to see the local media put these guys on the spot and ask for their positions.
