Florida Democrats: we're number 1! In foreclosures! by gimleteye

"Twenty three percent of home loans in Florida were past due or in foreclosure in the second quarter of this year making the state Number 1 in the nation in these categories." Still, maybe .05 percent of elected Democrats and candidates for state-wide public office have experimented with messages-- as we have done ad nauseum on this blog!-- attaching the cratered economy and implosion of the housing market to policies advocated mainly by Republicans connected to land speculators and local zoning officials; cogs of a machine that chewed up wetlands and the public interest and hundreds of thousands of peoples' lives in the process. Democrats, do you think you might win an election on this issue?

I feel like Henny Youngman: take our archive, 'housing crash': PL-EASE! Republican strategists and conservative spinmeisters are all over this blog. They gaze in slack-jawed wonderment at Florida Democrats who can't seize the opportunity before them. What are state Republicans advocating, to get us out of this recession/Depression? Making zoning and permitting for big speculators and campaign donors EVEN EASIER. That's right: the entire session of the Florida legislature was spent trying to figure out how to trim back the regulations that might have mitigated the oversupply of houses if they had only been enforced, supported, and otherwise employed so that government might work. Who embraces this government failure by design? Charlie Crist. The Republicans are still using "personal responsibility" as the mantra to mask over the looting that has taken place of state and federal treasuries. Democrats need to fight back, but won't so long as the mortgage foreclosure issue is like kryptonite in their hands.

Watch, this year they will dismantle the State's Growth Watchdog -- Department of Community Affairs. The DCA is viewed as intrusive by developers gone wild. I am sure that development interests would have that on the top of their wish list: Dismantle in small increments (State Bill 360 was the first step).

With Florida Hometown Democracy looming, they have no choice but to kill DCA and growth management all together. Agree with G.O.D.; watch it happen.
Watch Crist try to spin it.

My long discourse was lost because I do not have a password that meets the blogs approval. So I will just read and not comment. (Mensa)

They all need to be replaced. I have not seen a politician yet that is concerned about the welfare of this state or it's citizens.

It's all about a vote.

I think it's time to get rid of all of them. Send them a message that they work for us and NOT for themselves or their special interests.

Mensa...my suggestion: Save your copy (control "S") or write it in email and paste it here so you don't lose your comment posts if something goes haywire. I feel your pain, I have lost comments too.
