County Manager George Burgess: Classic Jim Morin. By Geniusofdespair

See more of Jim Morin... Also see in Today's Herald Jaw-dropping Marlins stadium deal (or as I like to call it, the mea culpa editorial -- the best the Editoral Board could muster in way of an apology to us) and the Guest Op Ed By Norman Braman on the Stadium Deal.

It's true. If the Miami Herald were a baseball team, Jim Morin would be its ace reliever. Or, cleanup hitter.

I'm not sure what to add to what's already been writting other than to remind voters who supported the great theft of disappearing tax dollars and blantant misprepresentation.

I'm still stuck on the Marlin's never having to produce their financials. I guess I'm slow.

MIAMI HERALD; Florida Marlins stadium's cost is steeper down the road

''I don't know off the top of my head what's the total cost of financing going to be,'' County Manager George Burgess replied. With bonds issued last week in New York, the total cost is finally in black and white: $2.4 billion, spread over 40 years, to repay $409 million in bonds that will primarily, though not exclusively, cover stadium construction. The total exceeds earlier estimates, which pegged final costs at $1.8 billion to $2 billion, according to papers released by the Wall Street firms underwriting the bonds. The bonds are backed by tourist-tax dollars, but if those numbers don't meet projections, the county can dip into the general fund.”

Only two of the five City of Miami Commissioners voted against this very bad Marlin Stadium deal. They where Tomas Regalado and Marc Sarnoff. You may also recall that only Tomas Regalado voted against the no-bid builders contract. More proof that Regalado's NO VOTE was the RIGHT VOTE and the only candidate for Mayor that really looks out for the interest of the City of Miami and its citizens.

Voters and residents need to remember Commissioners Joe Sanchez and Michelle Spence-Jones for their aggressive lobbying on behalf of the $2.4 bil to $3 bil impending financial disaster.

Commissioners Dennis Moss and Bruno "the Dim" Barrerio refused to allow smarter commissioners to get a better deal for the taxpayers. Voters need to remember.

Harry, stop saying that Sarnoff voted against the stadium. He voted against only in the vote that didn't matter. His deciding "Hell yeah, build that stadium" vote came next when he "made the world safe for democracy" (paraphrasing his words) by voting for the no-bid contract. He could have killed it and didn't.

Joe Sanchez was the Marlin's cheerleader. The Marlins recently rewarded Joe with $30,000 in campaign contributions.
