Public Records Requests: Alex Sink/Loser Bill McCollum Gubernatorial Race. By Geniusofdespair

I hate it that we have liberal sunshine laws for public records and then politicians skirt them by charging too much money so the public can not afford the records they are entitled to. The Miami Herald did a public records request of both candidates for Governor, mind you McCollum’s office is in charge of enforcing public records access which makes his actions of financially blocking records much worse. Beth Reinhard reported:

Sink produced an electronic version of her calendar over a 2 ½-year period at no charge, but McCollum said it would cost $762.92 for the same information from his office.

Sucks, doesn’t it? And he is 8% ahead according to a Rasmussen Poll? What is up with that? They must have polled brain dead people in some crappy little town. Reminder: I am not favoring any candidate in this race, does that SINK in?

Isn't that the way it always seems to be in this state? Our elections aren't about "may the best man win" but having to choose the lesser of two evils.

I don't consider Sink an evil. I think she will make a fine Senator.

OH, I agree with you there.
She's definitely the better candidate(IMO) but it's not like there is choice here. McCollum is a sleezy career politician.

I didn't phrase that first comment very well. What I was attempting to say was that it would be nice for once to have two well qualified candidates who have different strengths they bring to the table making it a little challenging to choose the best person for the job.

Instead there's Sink and McCollum and you'd have to have a screw loose to vote for him. So there isn't really a choice.

Re: Democratic candidate Michael E. Arth.

I would like to remind Democrats that they will have more than one choice in 2010, even though the Florida Democratic Party leadership is doing its best to freeze him out . Please visit Arth's campaign website at http://www.michaelearth.org and pay special interest to the campaign updates. It's as shocking as Arth is refreshing.
