Don't you know there just aren't enough people in Miami Dade County! The County Commissioners are SO HARD UP, they have to waive rules to fill Board posts because out of 2,387,170 million people in the County, they couldn't find anyone who could serve within the parameters set. They are waiving not just the residency requirement, they are also waiving term limits, violating our code twice. They want Broward resident Ron Book on our Miami Dade County Board, damn the code:RESOLUTION REAPPOINTING RONALD BOOK TO THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY HOMELESS TRUST BOARD; WAIVING THE TERM LIMITS OF SECTION 2-752(C) OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY; AND WAIVING THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 2-11.38 OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY.
We sure could use some new blood Commissioners. Why not dump him and play by the same rules we all have to? Rules are not made to be broken when it suits you good-for-nothing Commissioners.

Why are they putting someone from Broward on OUR Board?
Someone in your blog suggested we should run for those Boards. Maybe now you'll understand why no "outsider" ever attempts to submit their application. Commissioners already have their "chosen ones" and will go to any extreme to keep them there.
You are so right. I know who keeps suggesting that...an eternal optimist...I of course don't agree. I think you have it nailed reader.
The problem with country boards is that members are appointed by commissioners. Each commissioner wants to appoint a "yes" person. I know for a fact that Moss has left open seats rather than appoint an independent person. He, and other commissioners, have their favorites and they keep going to the same well often picking people of questionable ethics and ability. No wonder our boards are a joke. It is not because we don't have the talent, it is because our commissioners play politics.
