Carnaval Coral Gables: Not Quite a Coconut Grove Art Festival, or a Carnival. By Geniusofdespair

At the "Carnaval on the Mile" in Coral Gables yesterday, I saw these funky ashtrays with cigars built in (I display things better at a garage sale) next to some pretty interesting art, like these paintings by Cuban born Artist Diana Pique. The good news, almost all of the artists were local. The bad news, some of the art was difficult to look at. It was like the Coconut Grove Art Festival splashed with primary colors and with no editing. Although billed as a carnival...it wasn't. It was an art festival with a lot of junk mixed in. I still liked it Coral Gables but you should have had a booth telling the history of your city. See more photos...

Paintings by Irene Albalat of Miami.

Marco Rubio sighting, looks like the U.S. Senator hopeful is drinking a beer. Not so pretty today Marco, what happened?

Last we have the poor old Miami Herald, trying to boost their circulation with a gift of free dominoes.
