Part 2: Marlin Stadium Bid Waiver…They Knew! by Guest Blogger YouBetcha'

This is a follow up to my post of February 20th. If it was not bad enough to print a stadium bid waiver notice BEFORE Mayor Alvarez presented the feasibility of the stadium project for a Commission vote, in Saturday’s February 21, 2009 edition of the Herald, the county runs the ad again with corrected dates.

This time the waiver ad (Hit on it to enlarge it) is topped by another public notice which announces that the County Commission will consider the conveyance of the naming rights of the stadium. Other than the small technical issue that there is NO stadium approval at this point, it would seem that this is second time the County Mayor, Manager and/or Commission has totally disregarded the need for a vote (or public hearing or referendum) to establish the stadium as a county project.

The public notice begs the question: What did Sarnoff know, as well as the county officials during the failed vote at Miami City Hall? Was Sarnoff discussing the naming rights out of turn? The County Mayor/Manager’s office certainly placed the ads for the conveyance and the bid waiver discussions in enough time prior to the last hearing date for the Herald to publish it in compliance with law. (I am guessing the county was in compliance with the public notice laws.)

What are the games that are being played here? The public seems to be either totally a non-player or being played for a bunch of fools. What are WE going to do about it?

Excuse me?

Is the blue underling in the second ad, alreadypointing to the possibility of late dates?

Does the public foot the bill if the contract runs late?

Don't base it on comments. Some people just read.
