The Worst Thing I Have Ever Seen Happen in Florida. By Geniusofdespair
Yes, this woman is shouting at Jews: "Go back to the oven!" and "You need a big oven!" during a pro Hamas March in Ft. Lauderdale on December 30th. People were carrying signs saying: "Nuke Israel." Pretty ugly. I saw the video on Babalu's Blog.

Maybe we should just stop giving voice to extremists all round.
Posting this kind of stuff just permits the other side to say "see they are all like that!"
The leadership of the march should have gotten control of this group. This is Fort Lauderdale. These, I assume, are American Citizens, at least some of them have to be.
I like knowing what kind of people I have in my neighborhood, what my chances are of having a violent confrontation. I never realized this kind of hate existed here.
No matter what the other side said to her, this woman's reaction was unacceptable (I watched it and could not get to the end as it was upsetting). I don't think ignoring it will make it better. The bandaide needs to ripped off because what we are doing in the middle east with a patch here and a patch there, certainly isn't working and it is spilling into our streets HERE and NOW.
Is everyone really that surprised that the rhetoric has gotten to this level? How long have they been at war? How many of each side have been brutally killed?
I'm not sure what everyone thinks they should be saying or how nice they should be. I'm not saying it's okay to be saying these kind of things, but "the worst thing I has ever seen happen in Florida?"
Really?
Sheesh, I can't go with you there. They're hurtful words between two parties at war. And not much else.
Worst thing I have seen. Yep. Those are words that rip out the heart and blacken the soul. That is why I posted the woman's photo and what she said. It is my scarlet letter for her.
I didn't see what you mentioned. I just heard about them. It is different to see something and hear it...like the photos from the concentration camps, the twin towers imploding, etc. To exerience something with more of your senses...
Hateful and mean. Why can't people (not just this lady) think for themselves? There is no logic in her behavior. A dog attacking a cat makes more sense than screaming hateful things at another person.
Think. People can't work through the how and whys of their lives these days. Just because I was raised small town doesn't mean I think small town. I learned to think for myself.
The lady represents what is wrong with the Middle East and the world. They have fought for centuries over the same stuff and it looks like mankind is doomed to continue fighting (and getting better at harming) the same peoples over and over again. This world is full of Stupid, Stupid people. And that includes the US.
Learn Military history, and then understand what you read in context to the function of the world. Man, we are all dumb people on this earth. Unfortunately it spills over into our children's lives. :(
Yes, what she was saying is unacceptable and will do nothing to resolve the probably unresolvable situation. However, look at the atrocities that Israel has committed towards the Palestinians and perhaps imagine how a person could feel so much hatred. Words and actions born out of hatred are irrational, however, the emotions that drive them usually stem from from rational reasons. It's a sad sad situation, even more importantly, it's a dangerous situation for the world.
I'm sure, EoM, that the following quote from today's Herald that was taken from yesterday's protest in Miami will generate a post about the 2nd worst thing you have ever seen happen in Florida.
From the pro-Israeli side: ''Bomb, bomb Palestine!'' and, from a few, ``Go back to Israel so we can shoot you!''
It appears someone agrees with you Genius: Sharon Glueck, an educator in Miami Dade Public Schools, said in today's Herald (in response to what this woman said): "I teach my students not to be silent when racism and bigotry present themselves. I must practice what I teach. I can't be silent when what is suppose to a political rally turns into a display of virulent anti-semtism."
The sad part of this is the Palestinian people are being used as cannon fodder by Iran; Iran controls Hezbollah controls Hamas controls the rockets shooting into Israel. The US has to deal with Iran and moderate Arabs have to speak out against the extremism Iran is using to advance its nationalist, pan-Arab agenda. Put another way, this is not about Syrian or Palestinian claims to territory seized by Israel in earlier wars: this is about Iranian aspirations to control the Mideast. We can't use military force to solve the problem. Hopefully, the Obama team will engage Iran in ways that the Bush administration simply was never able to do. In the meantime, the bloodshed goes on.

Jimmy Ryce and Jessica Lunsford immediately come to mind with the rape at Dunbar Village in West Palm Beach lurking in my memory.
Somehow those trump some worthless human being shouting insults across a downtown intersection. At least in my mind.
Whatever.

No. Evoking the holocaust is what has disturbed me deeply...
Nuke Israel and bomb Palestine are not on the level of what this woman said...not even close.

Thanks, I read the letter this morning. She identified herself as a "Holocaust" Educator in Miami-Dade Public schools.
I suggest the Book "Exile" by Richard North Patterson.
It's a pretty good look at why both sides hold a grudge that will probably never end.

You must never read the comments section of the Sun-Sentinel whenever they run a story featuring gays.
You are right I don't read the sun sen.
