It seems like Eyeonmiami is the only local site where readers can get a steady trail of views and news about the corruption charges leveled at Palm Beach Couny Commissioner Mary McCarty and her husband, former chairman of the South Florida Water Management District Governing Board, Kevin McCarty. It's not over.
Thanks to the Palm Beach Post and the Sun Sentinel for laying bare the bones of this ugly story. The Miami Herald printed an AP newsfeed. Oh well. It's an important story, click on this link for today's Sun Sentinel that quotes recent and past US Attorneys on public corruption in South Florida. Here's how the Sun Sentinel story begins: "A shaving kit stuffed with cash, a political payoff delivered in gaming chips at a Nassau casino, free flights to the Bahamas and discounted stays at luxury resorts." Gee, not so different from Miami Dade. So, Miami Herald: why are you asleep at the switch? Maybe we should all switch our subscriptions.

I can't really blame them for this. The Herald is not distributed in Palm Beach. And the paper has enough problems covering Miami. They probably should cut back some of their Broward coverage too.

I understand the point above, but the Herald has done a poor job connecting up its outstanding series, "Borrower's Betrayed" with political corruption that may or may not rise to the level of prosecutable offenses. The three county commissioners in Palm Beach who went (are going) to prison behaved in ways with respect to zoning decisions in agricultural areas exactly as Miami Dade County Commissioners, at least the unreformable majority, have done in the past. If this isn't an important issue for Herald readers/subscribers, then what is? And who is connecting all these pieces; from Martin to Palm Beach to Broward and Miami-Dade... not to mention Collier and Lee?
To answer your question: No One.
