Let me see if I understand this. A group of wealthy, politically connected investors purchase a large block of land outside the UDB during the boom period. They now want to build a large “green” mixed use development in an area near Everglades National Park that only allows one home per 5 acres. The County Planning Dept. is against the development as being in the wrong place, but the Planning Board votes 7-3 to approve the project. This proposed project will make wealthy investors wealthier at the expense of everyone else. This scenario seems to happen over and over again.

Jeffrey Bercow has a very expensive suit. How much do you think he is making on this deal? The other guy looks shifty, wouldn't trust a word he says.

This is not a bailout. This is a disaster for South Florida. I would like to know whatever happened to "NO net loss of Farmland" in the Comp Plan wordage?

Why do we have an Agricultural Manager? Why isn't he standing at the podium explaining that farm land doesn't come back once it is gone?

Green development doesn't mean building on green land. And it certainly doesn't mean using gray water and extra building insulation and then sprawling almost 19,000 people hours from work!

I think it is a great concept to put schools in the community, but then have the parents so tied up in traffic that after school care, really means before bedtime care. this is a green community meaning it makes money for the investors. The reality of living what they are selling will destroy what is left of family time.

I think it is time for the people of Kendall to PAY ATTENTION to the issue. YOU are the people who are going to be facing the 5 hour commutes to Downtown Miami for work, not those developers, land owners or the people building the houses. They all live else where and they are not going to be the ones heading east on the roads at 5 am to get somewhere by 9.

The minute this is approved, we will have the Krome Gold twins back... same investors, by the way, and surprisingly enough, the Train will be connecting all the Krome communities, right through the current Kendalites back yards...

PEOPLE GET OFF YOUR BUTTS! THIS IS NOT JUST A FIGHT FOR THE TREE HUGGERS!!!!!!!

READ-THINK-USE YOUR VOICE. IF YOU DON'T, IT WILL BE YOUR TAX DOLLARS USED TO SUE YOURSELF FOR SOMETHING YOU PROBABLY DON'T WANT ANYWAY. HERE YOU GO:

1. Go here:
http://www.miamidade.gov/planzone/cdmp/Parkland/Parkland_Init_Recs.pdf and read what Dade County Staff (not elected officials) have to say about Parkland.

2. Ask residents to read what staff has to say. These are the experts who review this at great extent. They are recommending heavily to turn this application down.

3. Communicate: use your voice, your emails, your email chains

a. Write your commissioners/put Parkland on the reference line. Please do this, because you will basically be punishing staff, who must read and reply to all of these. They already know what most people are going to say. Be polite, be concise, pick a subject...there are lots to choose from...water, traffic, schools, house values plummeting, Everglades next door...keep it to a few sentences.

b. Write the mayor. He can veto this...

c. Write the Department of Community Affairs in Talli. These are the people who will be a bit upset with us if the commission approves this. Be nice.

d. write editorials and fax them to the Miami Herald or Community Newspapers. Send a cover page "Parkland DRI" so the editors will know they are time sensitive.
