Guest Blogger, EyeontheEconomy Tackles Halloween. By Geniusofdespair

Halloween horror isn’t a children’s game anymore. It has been become a daily routine; a game for the big kids in the big buildings and a nightmare for the rest of us on the Main Street, USA. Speaking of Main Street, it is amazing that we suddenly have a location for ourselves. We are no longer the missing “Silent Majority”. In fact, have you heard that phrase uttered by any candidate from any campaign? Of course not, silly person. We aren’t silent anymore. As a country we may not agree on much this election season, but we do agree on one thing and that’s the fact we are an Angry Majority. Try as they may, the spin demons cannot soften that fact with political spin and a wink.

There’s no need for Halloween costumes this year. The politicians need to see our faces, as We, the 'Angry Majority", are standing in Main Street shaking out our wallets trying to find money to live on.

The famed credit card commercial slogan, “What’s in your wallet?” has so much more meaning in today's shaky market. Fred Tasker, in Sunday’s Miami Herald warns us of the quickly arriving credit card disaster. Yet, on the inside pages, you will find Elizabeth Razzi, one of the Washington Post’s economic writers, eating her own words and I suppose, plastic. She is retracting her previous warning not to use credit cards and credit lines. She is offering up the admonishment to just use them wisely and keep your cash in the bank for ready access. Cash? What Cash? I can’t help but wonder where this lady has been lately!

At the end of the day, perhaps a better question is, “What’s in their wallets?”. I am sure of one thing; whatever is in their wallets is better than anything in ours.

(How are you readers weighing in on the economy? Is EyeontheEconomy reflecting your views? Are we all in a funk?)

Ya know what I think? I think we ought to head to Key West for a couple of days of margaritas to mull things over.

There is a disconnect out there. My 20 year old niece was oblivous to the Wall Street mess. I told her that the college fund I set up for her were stocks. She almost fell on the floor. Her mother chimed in: "Mine is too."

She looked at us in disbelief:

"What I can lose my college money?"

Welcome to the real world girl! The economy finally hit home for her.

Silent Majority? Yes, that slogan is dead in this election. We are now the angry mob from main street attacking wall street!
