Pinzur reports in the Miami Herald that Luxury Dade condos may draw distressed-area tax breaks.
How this slipped by me, I will never know.
Yesterday I reported that Jorge Perez has a BILLION DOLLAR fund to buy distressed real estate. Today I see the County wants to give him (and other high rolling developers) a tax break for his condo building. The distressed tax was suppose to be used to attract businesses to certain areas with clear boundaries not pay towards condos. And, it seems they have to move the enterprise zone boundaries to give them the breaks. Hold on here! And...miracle of all miracles, Natacha was the only one who objected to this handout to developers which could total $47 million. She said:
"'I am completely offended and appalled by this,' said Commissioner Natacha Seijas, the only commissioner to vote against the boundary change last week."
Natacha Seijas: "I agree with you!!"
The ice is forming -- suddenly it ain't so hot here anymore, maybe the flames will go out!
(Katy Sorenson and Carlos Gimenez were absent for this meeting and yes, Natacha gets a decent photo when she does something right!)

Oh, isn't that nice? Dade County's own version of the Bush Real Estate Bail-out.
I think the key here is that Ms. Seijas has an opportunity to lay this at the feet of the mayor.
Jose Cintron (OCED) left his position without much explanation to his staff. One would guess he saw this uproar coming and didn't care to be in the middle.
G O D agrees with Natasha!! I believe this is one of the signs of the apocalypse.....whats next??
The Cubs win the world series? Renier Diaz de la Portilla does somehting intelligent?
Republicans treat the nation with respect???
I think Natasha thinks this is a bad deal because none of her bag men have a piece of this...I bet you if Miguelito the dirtbag got a piece of this, she would change her tune. Life with Naty is like the olf Calgon commercial...No ticket, no laundry..
I dont trust her any farther than I could throw her...
Hahaha I thought you were just too shocked or distressed to even post about it. It was really hard for me to think "Right On!" when I read it.
I am pretty sure that this vote was taken at the Committee level, which means that not all Commissioners are members. Also, I think this has to go to the entire BCC for ratification. Lets see what happens when the entire BCC has a say. I am taking a wild guess, Natasha will join Katy, Carlos, and maybe Heyman in opposition.
@ Anon 9/10:
The vote was taken at the full BCC on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The next step is sign-off at the state level. The large number of "absent" votes were because the vote was taken pretty late in the evening, and a number of commissioners had simply left by then.
thank you for the clarification matthew
