Lowe's New Policy: Good for the Everglades? By Geniusofdespair

Looks like the Lowe's Store on the other side of the Urban Development Boundary might be a dead issue if this news report yesterday is accurate. They have about 12 acres WITHIN the UDB which they can build on (and could have built on years ago). Let's hope they plan to be "good neighbors" and that they will drop the pressure to move the line and that they will instead build on the smaller parcel they have within the line, like this article suggests.

What companies like Lowe's and Lennar need are a good dose of shareholder dissent; I wonder even if their corporate officers have any clue what they are trying to do, spending big bucks on lawyers and consultants to try and build in wetlands near the Everglades, or, change underlying zoning to suit their interests.

Recently Lowes announced a purchase of the Cosco on Kendall Drive. This site has under 10 acres. It would be nice to think Lowes is trying to be a better neighbor but, "It's the economy, stupid". Lowes isn't doing so well. Maybe negative press has played a part. Will they press for the giant store outside the UDB or discover they really can be more successful with smaller stores?

We are almost ready to open at the location on Kendall Drive. We retro fitted the old Costco.
