Don't postpone presidential debate! by gimleteye

Republican McCain proposed Wednesday that Friday's debate be postponed while the two candidates work to deal with the nation's financial troubles. Excuse me? That's what you are going to do? Deal with the nation's financial troubles? I don't think so: you are in the final phase of a presidential campaign, Senator McCain. Sure you can go back to Washington for a few hours, but do you really think with all your knowledge of the economy that you are going to make a contribution to this "work out"?

How about pressing, then, for real campaign finance reform-- or, clarifying President Bush's unintelligible reference in last night's appeal to the nation that called for capping the compensation of only executives who have cost their firms money? Because that is the way this key element sounded in the single sentence or phrase devoted to stopping Wall Street greed from grabbing our $700 billion or whatever it costs to buy derivative debt that no one knows how to value.

Barack Obama is 100 percent right: "It's my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who, in approximately 40 days, will be responsible for dealing with this mess." Exactly.

A big part of today's national disaster is that the Bush White House consistently and steadily downplayed the economic crisis that has been pounding millions of Americans. We didn't just land on the brink of national economic disaster yesterday. (want to read how it happened: see our index feature-- "housing crash")

We can't wait another day to learn more about the new leadership America requires to survive these turbulent times. John McCain discredits his own campaign by seeking to postpone Friday's presidential debate. For all our blog readers who support McCain, tell your candidate to get on with it!

Hell would you like to debate quick and smart Obama? Or worse, if you were Palin, would you stand a chance against Biden? The pubs would benefit if there were no debates and the "crisis" is the perfect opportunity to not debate. If you want to debate instead of saving motherhood and apple pie then you probably don't wear a flag pin either. Heaven forbid the people should know who they are voting for.

McCain is posturing. He had better show up for that debate. We have a party planned around it.

Agree, agree, and agree!! We need that debate now. It looks like his bogus excuse didn't sit well with voters (It could have gone either way, "Look how serious he is he has to focus on one thing" or "Look at him getting side-tracked when he could do both":

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Barack Obama attracting 49% of the vote while John McCain earns 46%. Other than the bounces related to his convention and speech in Berlin, this is the first time Obama has had 49% support on back-to-back days since early July. It’s also McCain’s lowest level of support in nearly three weeks.

All of you D's completely missed the boat on what McCain proposed, but that is typical. Now take it, twist it, spin it, and distort it. McCain does not need to hide. He will do well in the debate.
What is really pathetic is that Obama sat in Rev Wright's Church for 20 years, was married by him, his kids baptized by him, and listened to his venemous, spiteful, hateful, racist, unpatriotic, and vile comments for 20 years. This man, for 20 years shat on white people, excuse me isn't Obama's mother white. How could he sit there, how could he put up with that, how could he listen to that and subject his family to that. This speaks volumes---either Obama and Michele agree with this or they have a serious flaw in character and lack judgement.
