According to Miami Herald reporter Curtis Morgan New studies suggest that expanded mining will heighten contamination risks for the public water supply Morgan wrote:“Blasting 80-foot holes near a water supply for a million people likely raises contamination risks that the county's no-mining buffer zone is too small to prevent, federal scientists concluded in newly published research on rock mining in Northwest Miami-Dade.”
How close are they mining? I took this very bad photo (left). You can see the entrance to the well field area. I then turned around in the same spot and took the picture of rock mines, you can sort of see them in the distance where the grass ends. They are that close to our drinking water supply!
Read the article, it is one of Morgan's better ones and read Gimleteye's post August 28th on same subject. Even you cynics: If the water supply gets tainted it will cost you a fortune for water. It will rival gas prices.

All this makes my head hurt. This area is just north of Krome Gold, too isn't it?
