Good News About Patlak by Geniusofdespair

The Editorial Dept. of the Miami Herald endorsed David Patlak, running against Dim County Commission Chair Bruno Barreiro. Pretty much a slap in the face. Bruno has raised $163,215, mostly with $500 donations. Patlak has not reported. It is pretty much a Hispanic District (45,532 or 62.78%) so I don't think he can win but I wish he could (white voters are at 28% and black are at almost 3%).

It looks like the Herald is slapping like crazy!
First Patlak gets the endorsement, then they endorse the challengers to Vile Nastycha and Joe Martinez . Running theme in all endorsements seems to be the pledge to Hold The Line.

Patlak seems to be a nice fellow. I saw him in action on CTAK Committee. He seems genuine.

I read a recent mailer from Mr. Barriero, and it touted his accomplishments. I was wildly unimpressed. Most notably he offered discount sunpasses to people who came by his office, he used our 1/2 cent transit tax to give free rides to seniors, he stops by and checks the needs of the poorest people in the county, and he reads to poor kids.
What has he done to get more transit, what has he done for housing, as the Chair he is in the best position to get real movement on these issues, and has done nothing. I am happy someone like Patlak is running.

Dave is a very nice person.

Voting for him would not be such a bad move. ;o)
