DCA SAYS NO GO ON THE UDB! By Geniusofdespair

The State Growth Agency, Department of Community Affairs, said today that they will fight the two projects approved by our County Commission Morons to move the Urban Development Boundary: That would be the Lowe's Store and the Brown application for an office park. Miami Herald's Matthew Pinzur reported:

"Unless the state and local governments can settle, the case will be heard by an administrative law judge. Such a hearing would not take place for months, possibly not until early next year. In the interim, permits cannot be issued for the new projects."

P.S. "They similarly rejected the City of Miami's vote to gut protections for waterfront businesses such as marinas and shipping lines."

Good news for logic, bad news for those beholding to developers namely the BCC. Little Joe must be chewing through Lowe's PVC pipes right about now. Whilly needs to capitalize on it.

Tom Pelham ROCKS! He was one of Crist's best appointments. Friggin legislature tried to gut his agency due to some of his agency's growth management decisions in the panhandle, fortunately many came to back-up DCA's sound logic to their decision making process.

Now County taxpayers (ie you and me) get to pay to defend the developers ambitions, while the State taxpayers (ie you and me) sue to make us abide by our own growth management plan.

The Commission acts like the laws are just suggestions.

The report to the City of Miami from the DCA was 44 pages long about leaving out the word "PORT". We can only imagine how long the County Report from the DCA is....

Every county commissioner who votes to continue litigation against the state should be drummed straight out of office.

Indeed, good news. We can put a stop to this nonsense by getting on the ballot and passing Florida Hometown Democracy. Download and sign the petition at www.floridahometowndemocracy.com. Mail it to the address on the petition. We are so close to getting it on the ballot. Master Plan changes like Lowes would go to a vote of the local people-what a concept.
Joe M must be dying but Pepe Diaz can't be too far behind. He needs a new source of income since his pharmaceutical company got in trouble.
It feels good to win one but they have the money to keep coming back and unless we give the power to the people they will eventually win.

We need the DCA to come down and study how we screwed things up in Dade while there is time to save other counties for the same mistakes. A few months ago I tried to get this done, and there was a ban on traveling.

Now that Crist is in Europe seeking jobs, I am going to ask again to see if the state can spare $200 or so to see how we can save EXISTING JOBS in agg land.

Ya think? By the way, Tom P., YOU ROCK!
