The Orchid and Onion Award Presentation. by Geniusofdespair

The Urban Environment League held it's annual award presentation last night. Onions (the bad award) were awarded to Related Group, for the proposed Mercy Hospital Towers. Also getting onions: Commissioners Joe Martinez, Natacha Seijas, Javier Souto, Rebeca Sosa, Bruno Barreiro, Barabra Jordan, Dorrin Rolle, Audrey Edmonson and Pepe Diaz for voting to move the Urban Development Boundary. Mayor Manny Diaz got an onion but I am not sure why. Councilman Micahel Pizzi was honored with an orchid for his community activism. Former Miami Beach Mayor David Dermer jointly presented the award to Pizzi with Redland Community Councilwoman Pat Wade. I took some bad phone photos of the event. yup. That is Ms. Vicky.

However, while you all were meeting in the North end, Attorney Juan Mayol was having a time of it in the south end at Community Council 11.

I believe Sergio Pino and Al Maloof were lurking in the back row. Lawrence "Kendall Federation stops at Krome, so build on the west side, (or not) but think about it", also said his 2 cents worth.

The Krome Gold App was just great.

I think the anti's won, then Atty Mayol started badgering the No votes on the board. It was horrible that he was allowed to single them out and demand to know what they didn't like about the project; he would not let up and no-one intervened to stop him from intimidating the NO votes... He asked for a deferral until July 8th. (AND GOT IT!)

There is nothing like the flavor of a second bite at the apple!

I bet there are many trial attorneys out there who would love to ask for a re-trial after the Jury verdict comes in.

ANYWAY, watch for next Tuesday night for a repeat at the South Dade Government Center (different app, same idea) and July 8th at Arvida Middle School for the Krome Gold 2.

As one of Juan's supporters pointed out, they needed a special place like the Gables, Coco Plum, a trademark sort of place outwest more than they needed tomatoes... I guess he doesn't read the paper or eat tomatoes either. I guess he didn't have any issues with affordable housing either.

PS:
According to the presentation, these people aren’t driving to work on Krome or Kendall Drive, they are going to use their multimillion dollar estates with the stables, fish stocked lake, and country club for a weekend home. I hope they have a heli-pad somewhere, because the 3 hour morning drive to Coral Gables and downtown Miami is going to get really boring.

Looking critically at my photos....the composition on the Dermer photo is really good, and getting the Orchid in was genius. Too bad the quality sucks, it could have been a contender..

maybe I should get a camera. No, truth be told, that photo was an accident.

Money, and a better candidate... Bermudez is not the answer... Not saying he is not better than Joe, I just don't think he has the cache and experience to beat Joe head to head...

It appears that Bermudez doesnt have money.

Yet and still, I think he is the answer.

EYE ON MIAMI: THIS IS HOW YOU GET THESE INCUMBENTS OUT OF OFFICE THIS AUG 26 . . .

YOU WRITE A BLOG OR ARTICLE CALLING FOR ALL THE NEW CANDIDATES TO HOLD A MEETING IN PERSON. AT THIS MEETING THEY CAN ALL HELP EACHOTHER WITH EACHOTHERS RESOURCES. THEY EACH CAN OFFER MUCH MORE THAN JUST SUPPORT TO THE NEXT CANDIDATE.

A COALITION WILL BE FORMED AND THEN THE MIAMI HERALD WILL FOLLOW.
THIS "TEAM" WILL BE MUCH MORE SUCCESFUL AS A TEAM THAN A SINGLE NEW CANDIDATE.

DO THIS AND INCUMBENTS WILL FALL.
FIND OUT WHICH OF THE CANDIDATES ARE WILLING...
