I Get Annoyed At Really Dumb Things. By Geniusofdespair

I was reading the Audubon Magazine (really, really bored) and came across the ad (see photo above) for a New England Harbor Hopping cruise. It looked mighty familiar to me. I did some research. The photo actually was taken in Greenport, New York. See photo below (compare the right end of roof). I just hate being lied to.

Photoshop at it's best.
Realy good observation, I wonder how many ads get away with this.
Rather, how many ads contain real photos and true information?

No photoshop involved, they just took a stock photo of a New England looking port. I happen to have spent my childhood in Greenport and recognized it.

If you believe anything in advertising, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I will sell you. Not only are the photos mostly not true, but if they are of people they are so changed you would not recognize the subjects in real life. Also do not believe the writing. People will do anything to sell their product-products or people.

Maybe the same Nuevo Herald photo editor who pastes jineteras and cops.

Time, in New England
Took me away
To long rocky beaches
--and you, by the bay
We started a story Whose ende must now wait

and tell me,When will our eyes meet
When can I touch you
When will this strong yearning end
And when
Will I hold you again

It was a New Englander that started that whole "long walks on the beach" phrase that litters dating sites.

This is what happens when you hire a firm 2,000 miles away to create an ad campaign.

genius:
am writing from the Fork, where things have changed mightily, and of course, not really for the better. in some ways the story is similar to SFla's. have you been to greenport lately?
