We've had some interesting feedback on our earlier post detailing what is publicly available on plans to build on 93 acres of wetlands by 114 Acres Hialeah LLC and Prestige Builders Partners.
My guess is that the chaos of the South Florida real estate market has left the principals and banking alliances of PBP in shambles, as it is so many others. Being curious, we would like to know more about the permitting and zoning decisions involving local government in Hialeah: the role of the mayor, for instance, and the former mayor now Congressional candidate. Who are the investors and the bankers? Who is collateralizing the mortgages arising out of $1 billion in transactions?

The idea that Hialeah is somehow a mystery perpetuates the notion that South Florida politics is impenetrable; it's not. We know exactly who Natacha Seijas is, for example, and who she represents and how she is re-elected and why she acts like she is untouchable. In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where all our gasoline money is going, there is no such thing as free speech or criticism of government: here, it is still possible to understand and to see the whole picture.
I do not see why Hialeah is so hard to understand. It is the same as the story of our commissioners. They have lots of people who will vote for their own even when they are proven crooks. Funny thing, yesterday I was offered a very profitable building for sale in Hialeah and I told the broker that he was insulting my intelligence. I would not buy the most profitable thing in Hialeah. Just because of the dirty politics allowed there.
