MiMo Festival This Weekend in City of Miami by Geniusofdespair
''The mission of the festival is to celebrate the historic district, and more importantly, to bring attention to the newly emerging businesses and restaurants along the boulevard,'' Nancy Liebman said. ``The MiMo District is alive and well and thriving, and we want everyone to see the progress.''
From the Miami Herald:
MiMo is an acronym for Miami Modern, which refers to the architecture prevalent in what was Miami's first commercial historic district, the area just north of downtown Miami that stretches along Biscayne Boulevard from 50th to 77th streets.
A weekend street festival May 2-4 will showcase the area's architecture with guided bus and walking tours as well as entertain residents and visitors with an array of activities, including an exhibit of area merchants, restaurants, artist and live music.
The three-day festival, along Biscayne Boulevard from 66th to 77th streets, is free and events will be available for the whole family. The event will feature free shuttles that will stop at marked locations along the strip. Free parking also has been provided in specified locations.
