Here's whats pathetic: for years there has been a shadow government in Miami Dade and in Florida, around the conversion of farmland to subdivisions. This is the only place that writes about who is involved. What is pathetic about that?
You can call voters, idiots. But the campaign finance system is designed to misinform: just like SEC rules that allow companies like Lennar to use sham off-the-book entities, Special Investment Vehicles, SPVs to allow land speculators to hold land for them, but that does not reveal either the extent of their liabilities or cost to the public.
It is no secret that the supply chain of the big developers is what elects politicians like the Bullards, the Jordan/Wallace clan, or the Meeks for that matter. It's a family business, after all.
Forever, that supply chain feeding into Wall Street derivatives and mega homebuilders like Lennar had nothing to fear from the mainstream media--either disclosure or opinion-- because of the power of the advertising dollar. At least blogs there's a conversation about it. So, prattle on.
Ick...some of you are very annoying. I have been searching the public records for years. You can learn a lot about who is running what and who is connected to who. Sorry if you don't like hearing about it. Let's see what can you do?
I agree with the second anon 100%, they put these politicians in power for favored status. It is all a game and the taxpayers are losing on each end. Latterner, Rosen, Shiver are part of the reason Homestead tossed out four incumbents. The banks, the developers the rock mining and now the farmers all have goals and deadlines reqiring goverment assistance. The reality is the average taxpayer has no goal and no deadline requiring government assistance, because we have no government listening to us.
There appears to be no way to get honest government back other than getting the entrenched out and starting a new game.
"Latterner, Rosen, Shiver are part of the reason Homestead tossed out four incumbents." Really? Last time I checked, the reason for the turn over was simply because the council incumbents all ran against each other for Mayor.
BTW -- Shiver supported Bell who is now Mayor, so he certainly did not lose and your "shadow government" clearly remains in power.
BTW---1, Shiver supported Losner once Porter and Batemen were thrown out. He despises Bell. BTW---1A, Garner, Hodge and Porter were defeated or left before the election, Hodge left town in April or May and Shiver flew him in for voting reasons. BTW---1B, It is very strange you don't think people realized that Homestead was being sold out by a corrupt council. BTW---1C, I think the picture is telling Homestead has held the annual meeting there for years, there are land barons seated at the front table.
Thanks for the clarification of where the photo was taken. This whole crowd of power brokers in Homestead wrecked the place while they became wealthy. Now the Fed is taking back the wasteland of financial derivatives created out of their developments and all the other shattered glass of suburban sprawl. And the purpose of that is so banks that did deals with Lennar and Caribe and Shoma and the rest can keep lending money.
There's only one problem: there are no buyers. And I'm going to guess that foreign investors in US Treasury debt are looking on in horror and what's going on: you can't bail out banks just to prime the party. Take Homestead and multiply it by 100,000 times, with 100,000 Chambers of Commerce and Vision Councils and Farm Bureaus and you're close to understanding the scale of the disaster.
But I have to say, having lived through it: Homestead is its own special microcosm.
State of the city speech circa 2006 when Latterner had a use for Shiver. The picture is from the track champions club at the race facility. Gimleteye said it well. Niesin Kasdin was at the farm bureau this week. UDB will face another round of B.S. of why we have to move the line.
Too bad the public school system in Homestead and Florida City don't make reading eyeonmiami part of the high school curriculum. That could improve chances the next generation would do better than this one. On the other hand the carpetbaggers will have left by then and no one will remember what happened. Like Kendall.
Paige Latterner is the woman in black, she apparently was caught lying to a judge when Rosen and Latterner were trying to gain access to Adelphia's cable infrastructure in Keysgate of Homestead.
Try page 5 of this link for an insight into the way they conduct business.
both links are not complete. Could someone convert the via tiny url.com? I've always figured the Latterner apples didn't fall far from the tree, but it would be interesting to see what happened in court...
Shiver and Losner are in love with each other, Losner's father threw Shiver a massive party when the little worm was made county manager. This is a sickening display of incest. Shiver and Losner, BOOK IT!!!

Ah yes, the Illuminati, of course. They must be the ones who keep electing their undercover geniuses like Larcinia and Ed Bullard.
It all makes sense to me now.
Pay no attention to the men (and maybe women) behind the curtain.
