What happened to the "Florida City Commons" Land? By Geniusofdespair

Some of you may recall that Lennar had an option to buy the land owned by Atlantic Civil (dated 1/07/2005) to create a mega development called "Florida City Commons" in the area just Southeast of where Card Sound Road meets Federal Highway. Lennar pulled out of its option with Atlantic Civil to create this development of Regional Impact (DRI) and without Lennar, the development fizzled.

Here is what that property looks like today thanks to rock mining. Pretty quick transformation isn't it? Compare the two aerial photos one from 2005 (property owners on it) and the other from 2008 (enlarge by hitting on them.)

Live at 344 St. Blasting shakes the house every day. Thanks to the Torcise family. The constant truck traffic is also a reminder of their support for our new Mayor, Lynda Bell.

To: Unhappy in Homestead: the blasting has been going on for years; don't forget about Mayor Wallace and his connections and
campaign contributors. The growth machine doesn't care about
you. Where is your community in forming a fight in numbers on this
"blasted" issue? GET INVOLVED, get
legal help. The monied politicans
& their cronies, including city
Planning & Zoning Dept's have you over a barrell. They're paid well.
They stay elected---carreer politicans. Nobody seems to get
smart in Fla City. Now about Homestead: The OLD Guard, "The Fab Five" has lost out & the City Mgr has resigned awfully quick along with, as of last Thursday,
The Assistant City Mgr. Isn't is good to know maybe "the muddy river bed" is being stirred by a
what the presidential hopefuls are calling "A CHANGE". Good luck on your recruiting.
