Because of budget constraints, the federal government will stop producing the website that accumulates economic statistics in a single place, that provides easy access for citizens, journalists, and the merely curious. It's true: economicindicators.gov is going out of business.
Shame on the Bush White House and whoever is killing this website, for whatever reason.
One website you might be interested to check out: John Williams' Shadow Government Statistics, answering the question: "Have you ever wondered why the CPI, GDP, and employment numbers run counter to your business and personal experiences?"
Perhaps it is because we are too busy, in Florida, debating the merits of evolution in school curriculum.

I guess they only want to publish good news for us little people. Goodness knows we are overwhelmed with the other kind of news.
Actually, there goes another whack at open government. It is a form of censorship....
If they needed to cut money, they could have stopped the money flowing to study cow farts and bee sneezes.
My thoughts pretty much echo yours.
Bush & Co. and their cronies do NOT want the truth about the American Economy to leek out. They are sitting in D.C. hoping like hell that they can sugar-coat the avalanche of horrid news until the election in fall.
Political interests are never served by transparancy. That means we will have to all pressure our representatives to deliver it.
Write to your legislative representatives today and insist they make the budget cuts elsewhere, like in corporate welfare, to name just one major money sink.
This site cost practically nothing to run. No excuse for axing it.
Democrats control the money now and since 2006. You are rewriting history.
