Fidel Castro Yesterday and Today by Geniusofdespair

As a young child I remember the name Castro. They had a convertible bedding company and the TV ad had a little girl pulling open a sofa bed. I could never figure out how Fidel had this company with commercials on U.S. TV.

Almost 50 years have gone by between these two photos of Fidel Castro.

As a South Florida blogger I believe I should acknowledge Castro's decision today, not to run (Praise the Lord!) but I think I am more at home talking about the the demise of the Castro Convertible Company. Others can do the Fidel Castro analysis much better.

South Dade better prepare for another crisis. The Post castro tent city is planned for Naranja and the Air Base neighborhood the county owns.

Compliments of the county management team.

There is still Raul. Remember him? As things change, the more they stay the same.

In a way I am sad. My wife and I were there in the harbor when Castro came down from the mountains. We were out of there before he took the City. We are both the same age. Does this mean I should retire? But then none of our wacky people in Miami would go crazy celebrating. Oh well. for the good of Cuba It is really a good thing to see him go. His brother is no where near as bad as he was. Slowly but surely all things change. If only our Miami Cubans would recognize that and start being Americans.

We are more than American, we are Cuban American. Raúl Castro is much more communistic than Fidel, Fidel was more charming. This we all know. I say to you as a Cuban American born: transition in Cuba with Raúl in power, this including communism and a totalitarian regime, is unacceptable. Now only if you would recongize that and start being Cuban.
