Blacklist of Miami Condos By BankUnited. By Geniusofdespair

BankUnited blacklists 191 condo projects according to the South Florida Business Journal. BankUnited spokeswoman Melissa Gracey said the list is based a similar guidelines used by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Finally, lenders are doing something! However, this will destroy the condo market in Miami-Dade.

According to Mish's Global Economic Trend Analysis:

"By publicly posting the exclusion list, other lenders are sure to follow suit. It will become difficult if not impossible to purchase a unit in any of those 119 projects. The implication is a substantial number of those projects will fail. Whatever banks financed those towers are going to end up owning them."

This could really cause total chaos in our real estate market...As if it wasn't bad enough already. Is this discriminatory? Is it redlining? Wow!!!

Could you add addresses to the list? It would make the list meaningful.

I didn't compile the list otherwise you would know the development company as well. I tried doing more searching last night...it is hard to get reliable information from the list so I am not including it. I don't want to print wrong info.

I expect other lenders to post similar lists for other cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago.

Miami may be more overbuilt than most places, but inventory is very high everywhere, and nowhere are prices in line with the fundamentals.

We are nowhere near the bottom in any city in the U.S., except those so small and impoverished as to have no real estate market to speak of to begin with.

I wonder if prices have bottomed in Miami now? I hear different stories from different brokers...anyone knows?
