Mitt Romney Miami Endorsements...Ugh! By Geniusofdespair

An alert reader sent me this press release from the Romney campaign. If County Commissioner Pepe Diaz supports him, I sure don’t. Boy, is this lot of candidates weak or what?

Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney announced that several Miami-Dade County leaders have endorsed his candidacy for President of the United States, including Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz, Sweetwater Mayor Manny Marono, Miami-Dade County School Board Chair Agustin "Gus" Barrera and Raquel Rodriguez, who served as General Counsel to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Commissioner Diaz will serve as a Co-Chair of Governor Romney's campaign in Miami-Dade County, joining Theresa Ashkar and Andreina Figueroa.

More from the press release (It actually gets worse): These individuals join a growing team in South Florida led by Al Cardenas (ICK), former Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida and a Chair of the Romney for President Florida Steering Committee.

I'm sure Gov. Romney doesn't know local politics, otherwise he wouldn't touch Pepe Diaz with a ten-foot pole.

This morning Marco Rubio endorsed Huck-Fin-A-Bee. I love what Huck said about the Cuban embargo -- where he did an about-face. My State had a rice crop, but now if I am president, I will think of the whole country not just my state.

Doesn't that sound a lot like the County Commission? My district do or die...

Bruno is supporting Rudy, and Dorin is supporting Obama... Come on, do you think these national candidates have time to really study who is endorsing them at the local level. They just want to have access to local orgnaizational machines that can help with the voter turnout, and help with campaign fundraising.

Romney will do just fine.

It does not matter whether or not the candidate knows the people who support him or her because to the candidate all support is important. BUT, we know who the supporters are, and based on that we can decide that if a dirty rotten crook thinks a certain candidate would be great for the crook, then we all know who to vote against.

Obama better discard that Rolle endorsement.

I don't think you guys should let who local politicians endorse say anyhting about the Presidential Candidate. Look at Raul Martinez and Hilary, it's not like he's going to make her look any better or worse. I like Giuliani and noticed both Robaina's (Mayor and State Rep) are behind him, along with Commissioner Sosa and State Rep. Rene Garcia. Most, with the exception of Garcia, are not in my district but I actually think this helps them more with garnering publicity and access to these potential Presidents. Great blog Genius. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the insight.

I hope Frank is now equating Raul Martinez to Pepe Diaz....
