Didn't see anything in the Miami Herald worthy of a dissect... did you?
I am getting tired of talking about an article I saw in the Miami Herald to friends. They give me that blank look which sparks my memory, and I say: "That's right you don't get the Herald." Then I am forced to explain the issue as well as the article.
This happens a little too often readers. As bad as the Herald can sometimes be, I recommend you spring for the paper. You should know the local news and there is no where else to get it all. I should not have to be explaining important issues all the time.

Amen! This is the bottom line: if you don't read the newspapers, you are ignorant.
That's not a judgment, it's plain fact. The only way you can know what's happening is if you read the daily newspaper in your town. If you're not reading the paper, there is simply no way for you to know what's happening and why; the TV news only brings you the news that looks interesting.
That is why I have the Herald delivered and spend time reading it. It is one of the things you must do to know what is going on.
a longtime business owner in North Miami is shot outside of the back of his business while he watched his car being washed. The car washer shot too. Yesterday, in broad daylight as they say. West Dixie Hwy and NE 128th street. So where is this story in the Herald? Buried within another story in the the local/metro section.
On top of an already violent and deadly year of crime in North Miami, particularly around West Dixie Hwy.
Is it time for local governments to start looking at hiring the services of Blackwater type companies to get the job done? What is wrong with the Mayberry RFD..oops I mean NMPD? Underfunded? Understaffed? It would be helpful to read an investigative piece by the MH on just what is going on in the NMPD. Instead I get the fluff junk in the Neighbors section.
Amen! I HATE THOSE CRAPPY FLUFF JUNK NEIGHBORS SECTIONS TOO!
They divide neighborhoods, instead of being inclusive and uniting us. They are just vehicles for advertising. How about this people: we all send our neighbor's sections back to the publisher and write on it: This section sucks!
The Neighbors section is a disaster.
It's the way the Herald executives believe they are answering the problem of news specific to communities... they should just scrap it, and put the reporters and resources into the Local section.
Miami Herald used to be an award winning world respected media wing until journalistic ethics laxed. Now we have an apparently biased editor who sees nothing wrong with his own conjecture into issues, thus becoming part of a story. Now we have journalists who are more afraid of losing their jobs than telling it like it is. Now we have advertisers, currently of various real estate subfields dictating what is said, and getting their way for fear of lost advertising dollars.
WHy do you suppose blogs with good writers has taken off? We let the truth be told.
